“You're damn right you won’t, because you won’t be in the bathroom alone. Now scoot.”
I sighed. My face throbbed and I was so tired. Too tired to keep arguing, so I stepped back from the bathroom door and let Onyx in.
“Good girl,” he praised, heading straight for the tub.
I gripped my towel tightly, embarrassed about him seeing me in any state of undress.
He didn’t seem at all fazed, as he checked the water temp and turned to face me. “Okay, time to get in.” He reached for me and I jumped backward.
I saw the regret flash across his face.
“I’m sorry!” I cried, feeling awful. I knew Onyx wasn’t going to hurt me. It was just a reflex.
“You don’t have to apologize, princess. I should have given you some warning. Your arm is bruised and I just wanted to check it.”
I swallowed and took a step toward him, holding it out.
“You’re such a brave girl.” he praised, holding my arm and gently prodding.“I’m so sorry you got hurt, Emily. I’m sorry you went through any of this, but I am going to do my all to make sure you never had to go through anything like this again. I can’t take your fear away, but we’re going to work through it together.”
His words made me emotional, and fresh tears fell down my face.
He chuckled as he wiped them away, and led me toward the tub, pulling my towel off. “I didn’t mean to make you cry, princess.”
I tried not to cover myself, which was hard, because I was super embarrassed. Onyx held my hand and helped me get settled in the warm bath. My skin was a little sore from where my wet jeans had rubbed. Dallas had given me some clean panties and pants to change into before we left the club, and promised to go to my place and get some of my things since they all refused to let me go home. She and Onyx had also fought over which of them I would be going home with, but Pike had given Dallas a swat to the ass and she had given up rather easily. I wasn’t sure what that was about, but I was honestly relieved to be with Onyx. I think Dallas had some big feelings about tonight and I wanted to make sure she worked through them without worrying about me.
Onyx knelt beside the tub and rubbed a bar of soap on a wash cloth until suds appeared. “I’m sorry I don’t have any body wash. I’ll get some tomorrow for you.”
He’s going to bathe me. Holy shit, he’s going to bathe me.
“Tomorrow, I’ll be back at my house,” I answered as I played with a soap bubble. I wish I had my pretty bubbles from home… and my paci… and my bunny, Nibbles. I was really going to miss Nibbles tonight. I hoped he wouldn’t be scared without me. He didn’t like the dark. Unable to control myself,I burst into tears.
Chapter Three
Onyx
“I wondered when it would hit you again, princess. You went through a lot tonight. You’ve been going through a lot for a while now. But it’s okay. You don’t have to go it alone anymore,” I soothed as I finished washing her petite body.
I finished quickly, pretty sure I’d set a record for the world’s fastest bath, and pulled the plug. I’d just wanted to clean her skin, so I could put some soothing cream on her.
Scooping her from the tub, I wrapped a towel around her, I rocked her back and forth in my arms. “It’s okay, darlin’. Get it all out.”
“I leaved Nibbles,” she wailed.
Nibbles?
I furrowed my brow, and sought more information. “Can you tell me about Nibbles?”
“He’s my bun-bun and he always bednights with me. He’s gonna be so ‘fraid!”
Oh, a stuffie. That made sense, and to my relief, was easily fixable. I carried her into the bedroom and grabbed my phone from the bed. “Oh, darlin’. It’s okay. We’ll get Nibbles here too, okay? We won’t let him be afraid.”
I dialed Pike’s number and he answered on the first ring. “Hey, we’re about to head that way now.”
“Can you grab her bunny too?”
“Dallas already packed it.”
“She’s such a smart girl. Thank you.”
