Hope to meet the baby soon!

Best regards,

Your friend,

Ella :)

I attach the article. It embodies the resilience and sacrifices of so many people. I think about the professional recognition that will follow the article's publication, a long-awaited promotion. Yet, beyond my career, what truly matters is the tangible impact it will have on all those lives that suffered at his hands.

I hit “send” and there is a knock on the door. It’s Tommaso. I smile, closing the laptop.

"Do you want to watch a movie together?" he suggests.

I tilt my head, feigning contemplation. "Hmm, let me check my schedule. I mean, I'm pretty free right now," I reply, playing the elusive card and teasing him.

Tommaso raises an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes. "Free, huh? Lucky me." I can't help but smirk as I get up. We make our way to the hall downstairs. As we enter, the sight that unfolds before me catches me by surprise. I smile in awe. He has arranged a setup, with a dozen candles flickering in the dimly lit hall.

The aroma of freshly made pizzas wafts through the air. God. He is trying so hard to impress me. It’s cute and funny and all of the sweet things that I thought were not exactly him.

I look at him, a teasing smile playing on my lips. "Is this your way of impressing me, Don Tommaso? Candles, pizzas, and a movie."

He chuckles, his eyes meeting mine. "Well, I figured a beautiful journalist of your caliber deserves a little more than just a regular movie night. Consider it a gesture of appreciation for the exceptional work you have done so far. And for how much you have helped me."

I shake my head in mock disapproval. "You're pulling out all the stops, huh? What's next, a red carpet and live band?"

Tommaso grins, playing along with me and gradually leading me to the sofa. "Ah, you caught me. The red carpet is in the laundry, and the band is on a coffee break. But we've got cheese pizzas and a very good movie. That counts for something, right?"

I can't help but laugh. "Fair enough. You've earned some points for effort." As we settle in to watch the movie, the atmosphere is easygoing and comfortable. The flickering candles cast a gentle glow on his beautiful face. My eyes suddenly shift back to the screen as the familiar opening music of Citizen Kane starts playing.

“I know it’s your favorite.”

“How?” I look at him in awe.

“A lucky guess?” He smiles shyly, looking at my lips.

"So… is this a regular thing, or are you just trying to impress the beautiful journalist?"

He smirks, his brown eyes holding a playful spark. "The latter, I’d say."

I nod, the teasing transitioning into genuine warmth. "Well, thank you for everything. It's a night to remember." The pizzas disappear, the candles burn low, and the movie nears its end.

As the credits roll, I turn to Tommaso, a genuine smile on my face. "Not bad for a movie night. Maybe you do have a talent for impressing people. I owe you that."

He leans back, a satisfied expression on his face. "Well, I aim to please. But I have to admit, the impressive part is having you here with me." I look at him, stunned by the man he has become with me. Soft, gentle and sexy at the same time. I can get used to this.

“And the owing part, well what you owe me is a date. In case you forgot.”

How can I forget? I was waiting for her to say it.

EPILOGUE

Tommaso

One week later

She looks absolutely breathtaking in the plum satin dress. It cups her breasts beautifully. The diamond earrings look perfect on her, just as I had imagined.

I love the highlighter she has on her collarbone. The soft hue complements the warmth in her smile as she looks up from the menu. There's a certain elegance in the way she navigates the choices, a quiet confidence that adds to her allure.
