Prophecies of Old

Rez

Every male moves at once. All of L.A.M.B. stands and reaches for Lilith. Knots throws me onto the sofa as he switches places with me, while pulling his sword. Fluffers bursts forth, baring his teeth at his mother. Levi jumps up along with Zeke, JP, and Ryker. Lynx even stands before me, which actually surprises me. I look over with wide eyes at Moni to see that Chester’s on his feet as well. Moni shrugs and shakes her head at the chaos before us.

Everyone is talking over each other, and the commotion is too much. L.A.M.B. is trying to get Lilith under control while my guys are yelling at her and defending me. I catch Trometh poking his head in before running up to L.A.M.B. to see if he can help. To be completely honest, they are all acting like fools, and that’s saying something coming from me. I motion for Moni to come over before crawling up on the back of the sofa and speaking into her ear.

“Want to help stop this shit? I’m getting a headache,” I ask and tell her what I have planned to break this up.

Moni stands in front of me and holds her hands out to the side with her palms facing out. She’s been practicing controlling her booms, so this will hopefully work. Her shoulders raise up before she flexes her hands and pushes her shoulders back down while small sonic booms flow out of her hands one after the other. It’s not enough force to knock anyone on their ass, but enough to get their attention. Like standing next to a big speaker when the bass drops. I bet she will be a hit at all the parties now.

“Hey!” I yell as the room quiets. “We’re not solving anything like this. Obviously there’s a hot topic we need to discuss, so let’s act like adults and talk this out. I can’t be the only one lost here,” I say as all eyes focus on me. Knox slowly transforms back to my brooding, yet loveable alpha, and Moni flies back to Chester.

Lilith pulls away from Lucifer and tucks some of her hair that came undone behind her ear. “Fine, but I take back what I said about you, Nerezza. You can’t be trusted. Don’t think about calling me mother,” she spits out as she sits down. Trometh smirks, and he backs up between Lilith and Lucifer’s chairs.

My jaw drops as my eyebrows raise. “Excuse me? What have I done to deserve this?” I scoff, pulling Knox down and crawling onto his lap this time as I feel his need to be near me. He wraps his arms around me tightly and nuzzles into my neck.

My Door Knight moves beside the sofa but doesn’t sit back down. Hell, he still has his sword out, but it’s on a belt he somehow conjured up.

“You’re the Devil,” Lilith seethes.

“Pot, meet kettle. Did you really call me the Devil? When you’re sitting next to him?” I argue.

I catch Lucifer’s subtle motion to Murmur before the Mischief Demon walks behind Lilith. His hands wrap around the chair and onto her shoulders.

“Relax, Lilith. We’re just talking here,” he coos, and Lilith sinks into her chair. Murmur catches sight of the purple Demon and frowns slightly. “Trometh, could you retrieve Mammon? I’m not sure what level he’s on.” The tiny demon bows and turns to run out, but I don’t miss the scowl on his face.

“What she means,” Lucifer begins, pulling my attention back to him. “Is she thinks the prophecy she was told by Anwen is about you and her boys.”

“Wait! There’s a prophecy about us?” Ryker asks, leaning forward as he practically drools at the news. “Why haven’t I read about this in any books?”

Zeke rolls his eyes and whispers something to JP, causing him to snicker until Lucifer’s gaze turns his way.

“Wanna share with the class?” Lucifer quips.

“That’s such a dad thing to say,” Lynx says, and my group chuckles slightly.

“Just said that only Ryker would find a prophecy of us dying fascinating.” Zeke smiles as Ryker flips him off.

Astaroth sighs and leans back in his chair. “The thing about prophecies is they are never black and white. They are true and they come to pass, but sometimes not even the Fates themselves know what to make of them. Most creatures find them terrifying, not fascinating.”

Ryker’s response is to shrug, not caring at the slight dig. “I like what I like. I’m not ashamed of that.”

“That is true about prophecies,” Knots speaks up. He’s put his sword away, but he’s standing with a wide stance and his arms crossed. His eyes haven’t left the five Demons sitting across from us. “I might not remember everything about my past, but I do know that prophecies are something we do not mess around with.”

“So is that what you were mumbling or chanting about in your room, the prophecy?” I ask, and Lilith’s right eye starts twitching.

“Lilith, why don’t you lie down? You’ve worked hard today and should probably rest,” Murmur says softly.

“NO! I want answers,” she demands, slamming her hand down onto the arm of the chair.

Lucifer pinches the bridge of his nose, and his gaze travels over us once more. “Lilith mentioned Horsemen tattoos?”

“Yeah.” Ryker says, rocking on the edge of the footstools. “I have one behind my ear,” he supplies.

“May I see?” Lucifer asks.

Ryker gets up and walks over, showing the five Demons the tattoo behind his ear before he takes a seat.
