The other cop had his head buried in the snow, and I assumed he was dead, too. Micah kicked him around a bit, before shrugging his shoulders and coming towards the front door.

Staring at him with disbelief in my eyes, tears slowly trickled down my cheeks.

No matter what, these two men were doing their jobs. They didn’t deserve to be killed, to die such a terrible death. They were sons, fathers, husbands, friends, and brothers. They had lives worth living, and in a blink of an eye, Micah took it all away, leaving their families to grieve.

‘‘What did you do?’’ I whispered, voice cracking. ‘‘Why the fuck would you kill them?’’

I was screaming.

A part of me was aware that Micah was very capable of doing this, and far worse. Yet somehow, seeing it again, it made me realize how unstable he was. He could’ve tried to escape instead of killing them, but he chose to be the Terror of the Night.

Micah took a step forward, and I took a step back, until he was inside of the cabin, slamming the door behind him.

‘‘They were going to take you away from me,’’ he murmured, inching closer to me. ‘‘I can’t allow that, not without saying a proper goodbye.’’

‘‘What proper goodbye?’’ I screamed out. ‘‘You’re a criminal. This was bound to happen sooner or later, and you know it. What did you expect? That the law enforcement will simply let you walk free? There’s no reason for killing those two, Micah.’’

‘‘They provoked me.’’ His low voice made chills rise on my skin. Taking a step toward me, he grabbed me by my forearms and had me pinned against the window. ‘‘I don’t respond well to provocations. And right now, your tone is really pissing me off.’’

I gritted my teeth together. ‘‘Oh, it’s pissing you off? Good to know, it’s exactly what I wanted. You need a fucking wake-up call. You can’t go on killing people because they provoke you, Micah. You’ll be dead quicker than you think.’’

A ghost of a smirk tugged on the corner of his lips. ‘‘Are you worried about me, Bambi?’’

‘‘So what if I am?’’

Silence fell upon us. My heart was ringing so loudly in my ears, the only sound I was able to hear. Micah remained still in his spot for a moment, before abruptly turning me around.

His front was pressed against my back, his cock hardening as it connected with my ass. His hand came to my chin, and he forced my gaze towards the two dead cops in front of us.

‘‘Do you see that?’’ he murmured. ‘‘I did that for you, Bambi. They were a threat to you, too. No one can threaten you and get away with it.’’

They could’ve said something about me that pissed him off, but it was still not an excuse for taking their lives. Watching them lie in the snow, motionless, lifeless, brought a sensation down my spine I never thought to experience.

It was like a flashback of the time I witnessed people getting killed, right before my eyes, unable to prevent it, or to stop it.

The difference was that I was so fucking happy when those robbers got arrested, whereas now I was praying to God that they wouldn’t catch Micah, not yet. I wasn’t ready to let him go, despite being the worst monster I’d encountered. I couldn’t let him go. I didn’t want it to happen this soon.

I swallowed harshly.

His head came to the crook of my neck, resting it there for a moment before slowly kissing that sweet spot. A small moan slipped my lips. His hands trailed all over my body, before going into my pants.

And that was when I was certain of two things.

One, both of us were terribly twisted and disturbed.

And two, it wasn’t Micah’s fault I was like this. I’d been like this my whole life; I just didn’t know it.

I’ve dreamed of you, Bambi.

In my dreams, your soft skin tasted like madness.

I can’t wait to taste you. I can’t wait to experience the madness.

STORM

How in the world he managed to get me out of my pants, underwear and the sweatshirt I’d been wearing had to be one of the biggest mysteries yet.
