He represented a couple of my players, but he’d earned those accounts without a single word from me. In fact, he’d never come to me for a favor before, but I knew exactly why it was happening now.

Anthony Bryant was young, and his father had pretty much been running his career from the beginning. He guarded his son like a fucking pit bull. However, Anthony had begun to stand up to him from time to time, trying to take control of his own life. Accepting the Nighthawks' offer was his first major move that went against his father’s wishes.

“And you want me to make an introduction?”

Hunter laughed, then briefly glanced at the timepiece on his wrist again before saying, “I don’t need you to sell me, Lennox. Just get me in a room with him.”

“Alone,” I clarified.

He raised an eyebrow as if to say, “Obviously.”

“As long as you don’t have him shopping for a new team.” I paused, and my gaze darted over to one of the groomsmen. “Unless Miles is looking to move…?”

Miles Hensley, a close friend of Gabe’s, was a star wide receiver who played for the Phoenix Dragons. He was well on his way to The Football Hall of Fame. If there was any way I could lure him away to the Nighthawks, I would take it.

Hunter chuckled and shook his head. “Good luck with that.”

“I figured as much. Couldn’t hurt to ask.”

Hunter checked his watch for the third time, and I studied him curiously. “Need to be somewhere?”

“Um…”

“Go,” I encouraged. “I’ll talk to my manager about a meetup with Bryant, and we’ll touch base next week.”

Hunter tossed me a grateful smile before walking away.

I meandered to one of the windows and stared down at the pool, wondering how the fuck I was going to find Brielle. Then it hit me.Jonah Carrington.

Digging my phone out of my pocket, I found a quiet corner and called the man who handled the cyber security for the Nighthawks. Jonah was the best in the business, and Justice had made the introduction, giving me his stamp of approval to his friend.

“Carrington,” Jonah grunted when he picked up. He must have checked his caller ID a second later because he said, “Lennox Madison. What can I do for you?”

“Jonah,” I greeted. “I need a favor.”

I explained the situation to him, then listened to him laugh. The only reason his amusement didn’t piss me off was because I knew he understood how I felt. He’d fallen for his wife the moment he met her and was every bit as possessive and obsessed as I’d become with Brielle.

“I’ll call you as soon as I find her,” he said, still chuckling. “And you should probably prepare yourself for Justice to give you plenty of shit about finding the one and then losing her.”

“I guess there’s no chance you won’t tell him,” I muttered.

“Nope,” he replied with a snicker. “Talk soon.”

Then he hung up, leaving me irritated and restless. I tried to get my mind off Brielle by playing some poker and drinking a little too much scotch, but it was useless.

When I went back to my room that night, I couldn’t stop reliving my time with my woman. It left me in a very uncomfortable state, so I slept like complete shit.

LENNOX

The next few days should have been time to unwind and enjoy my first vacation in more years than I could remember. Instead, I spent it working to keep my mind occupied. Otherwise, I’d taken to brooding.

The only time I was somewhat distracted was Wednesday morning when I went golfing with Gabe and some of the other guys.

“Morning, Lennox.”

My head turned to the side when I heard Gabe’s voice, and I smiled as he walked up next to me. “Hey, kid.”
