“No, he’s not.”

The truth.

Juliette wasn’t as cold as the ice she skated on. It was all a facade to keep people away. To protect herself. I had stripped the layers away and broken through the walls she had constructed around herself. And I was still a little surprised by what I had found underneath her frigid exterior.

Juliette Anderson was just as gone for me as I was for her.

“I’m ready to come home,” I admitted, my voice low as I stretched out onto my back and held my phone above my head. “I’m ready to come home to both of you.”

Juliette’s eyes were warm. “We’re both here waiting for you.”

“I should be home by mid-morning tomorrow.”

“Did you want me to leave Thor at my place and you can just get him when you get home, or should I take him to work with me?”

“I don’t care about my dog right now, Juliette,” I laughed, shaking my head at her. It didn’t matter if I got him before or after she got home. Either way, she would be seeing me at some point tomorrow, and not just to drop off the damn dog. “I want to see you.”

“Good,” she said, the corners of her lips lifting upward. “I’ll take Thor to the rink with me. You can come by if you want, or I’ll just see you after I get home.”

“What if I did both?”

She tilted her head to the side. “What do you mean?”

“I’ll come to the rink and get him, so you don’t have to worry about him, and then I’ll come over after you get home.”

A playful smirk slid across her lips. Mischief danced in her eyes. “Getting tired of your own company, Sullivan?”

“My hand doesn’t feel as good as you do.”

She rolled her eyes and snorted as she turned onto her stomach on the bed. The mattress pushed her tits up and my cock twitched in my pants. Goddamn, I missed her in every fucking possible way. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Only for you, baby.”

Juliette laughed and the sound snaked itself around my eardrums. “Just come home, Mac. Your smelly dog and bored neighbor miss you.”

I was ready to find my own flight home right now. “You want me to come occupy your time?”

She raised a questioning eyebrow. “Isn’t it obvious?”

“It is now.”

“Good,” she repeated with a satisfied smile. “I’m going to go to sleep, that way it will be morning soon.”

I couldn’t help but smile back at her. The butterflies in my stomach fluttered and the feeling was something I was still getting used to. No one had the effect on me that Juliette had. It was foreign, but thoroughly enjoyable.

“Before you go, I had something I wanted to ask you.”

Curiosity flickered in her gray irises. “Okay.”

“Well, it’s actually two things,” I started as I sat upright in bed. “Wes’s girlfriend’s brother has a figure skating competition in Orchid City this weekend and I wanted to see if you’d like to come with all of us. Just as friends… you know, so no one would think anything.”

She nodded. “Okay. That sounds like it could be fun.”

It wasn’t a yes or a no, but I needed to keep moving before I got cold feet. I wasn’t sure cold feet actually existed where Juliette was concerned. I was more susceptible to getting tongue-tied and fucking up my words trying to talk to her. So, they just all tumbled out like word vomit instead.

“I want to take you out. Just the two of us. We can go somewhere that is a little farther away, that way we don’t run the risk of running into anyone. Somewhere we can get dinner and then do something. I don’t know. It doesn’t have to be a date or anything like that if you don’t want it to be.”

“Mac,” Juliette’s voice was soft as she broke through my rambling. “Stop. The answer is yes. I want to go on a date with you.”
