"Wow," he breathed, his back hitting his chair. "Fucking wow."

I felt the same way.

Five minutes later, Maddy and Arjun were in the room, and Aaron was seated opposite Jeff, holding my phone and reading the text from my father. I searched his gaze for any sign of surprise, but there was none. Instead, his gray orbs held a spark of anger as they lifted to look at me. I was still standing because there was enough excitement in me to prevent me from sitting.

"That fucking bitch," Maddy muttered next to me. "I knew she was a conniving piece of shit."

"I'm sorry, baby. I had no idea she would go this far." Aaron's voice was full of regret, and it irked me.

My cheeks heated at the endearment he called me in front of everyone. "It's not your fault. You don't control her."

He shook his head. "Still. It's because of me."

I yearned to reach forward and touch him, but that would mean I would be encouraging his advances, and I couldn't let that happen. Everything between us was already hazy.

"Felicity's right, Aaron." Jeff, who had been quiet all this time, spoke up. "It's not your fault. I've sent for Jade, and she should—"

There was a knock on the door. Everyone turned to see Jade walking into the office casually as if she hadn't tried to get me fired.

How did she sleep at night?

On entering the tense office, she stopped, her eyes roaming around the room, lingering a little longer on me before stopping on Jeff. I knew the exact moment it hit her that something was up.

"What's up, Jeff?" Jade asked, trying to sound casual, but her voice had an edge that could not be mistaken.

"Oh, nothing much," Jeff answered with a tight smile, retrieving the phone from Aaron to hand it over to her. "Just wondering what this is all about."

Her green eyes narrowed as she stared at the outstretched device, and it was a long second before she made any move to collect it. When she did, however, her face paled, and it was all I could do to keep from hitting the daylight out of her.

Her eyes snapped up. "I don't know anything about this. I swear."

"Hmm," Arjun piped. “It sounds exactly like what Felicity said a few days ago while you stood there and accused her. The only difference is that she wasn't lying, and you are."

"You better run, bitch, 'cause if I catch you, you're going down," Maddy scowled.

Jade's eyes dashed frantically from Jeff to me to Aaron, ignoring Arjun and Maddy. "I have no fucking idea what this is, Jeff. You have to believe me."

Obviously, she was delusional.

I stepped forward. "Did you think my father wouldn’t tell me it was you? Were you truly counting on the strain in our relationship to work in your favor?"

She focused her attention on me, her eyes glaring daggers at me. "How is it my fault Daddy and his little girl don't see eye to eye?"

My nostrils flared. She probably did not understand that she had just admitted to leaking the game and putting the blame on me. "I'm going to give you an opportunity to apologize to me."

"Or what?" she sneered, forgetting she was supposed to defend herself. "You'll burst into tears? Please."

I started forward, but Aaron suddenly appeared before me, his shoulders coiled with tension. "You have a lot of nerve, Jade. What were you thinking?"

I watched as her eyes visibly softened upon seeing him. "Aaron. It's not what you think."

"No?" His accent slipped in through the cracks of his anger. "So you didn't send the details of the game from Felicity's laptop to her father?"

"I…I…” Jade stuttered. "Okay, so maybe I did. But it was all her fault!"

Maddy rolled her eyes. "You've got to be shitting me."

Jade's gaze settled on me, full of malice and fury. "You think you're so perfect, don't you? You acted all shy and demure, but all of that was just a front for you to seduce him and get him to fall for you."
