A shrewd grin twitched across his face.

That damn angel! I groaned in annoyance as I rolled my eyes demonstratively.

"Well, be that as it may," he ignored my apparent gesture. "Have you thought this through?"

"Derinkuyu?" I asked.

"Yes, the underground city." Tanael's gaze was on a spot in the water underneath my chest, which I was now trying even harder to cover up.

"Yes." I looked at him resolutely until he finally threw his gaze away from my breasts. "You really didn't need to disturb me while I was bathing. You can go now." I pointed my chin demonstratively towards the bathroom door, but the God of First Light didn't move an inch.

"That's not really why I'm here."

"Then why, Tanael. And please tell me quickly, the foam is slowly dissolving," I complained, which I shouldn't have mentioned, as this typically calculating expression of the gods appeared on his face as soon as I said it.

"I've brought you a dress," he announced.

"A dress?" He had thought of that. "That's ... sweet of you." The anger was gone, and something tender ensnared my heart.

"Stephan got you the evening dress you wore in the Hamptons, but I would be delighted if you would wear the one I picked out for you. I'm sure it looks wonderful on you." His gaze was soft and somehow fragile. "I've put it on your bed. Then you can decide if you like it."

At that moment, I could only manage a silent nod. After one last hungry look at my bathwater and what was hiding under its surface, he got up and walked to the door.

"I'll pick you up in half an hour." Then he was gone.

Curiosity now drove me to hurry, and the exhaustion was gone. I quickly washed myself and got out of the soothing bath. I entered the bedroom in my bathrobe and immediately saw it lying on my bed. The light blue dress paled next to the one Tanael had chosen for tonight. The previous evening dress had been worthy of a princess, but this dress was fit for a queen.

It was mature, elegant, and sexy—in gold, made from the finest silk, like the sun's light. I carefully slipped into the pleasantly cool and delicate fabric. A slip would have shone through, so I did without underwear. I stood in amazement in front of the tall mirror and couldn't take my eyes off myself in this dream of gold.

The dress's narrow straps ended in a corsage at the front, which supported my breasts and showed them off beautifully. The décolleté was set off with diamonds that sparkled in the light of the lamps like fireflies last night.

From there, it fell like a golden waterfall down my body and along my feminine curves until it barely reached the floor at my feet. It was simple and elegant.

The straps crossed at shoulder blade level at the back, leaving the back free to just above the buttocks. The straps and hem were also adorned with diamonds. The silk fabric was gathered slightly at the lower back to create a small train. This made what appeared to be a tight-fitting dress from the front look elegant at the back with plenty of legroom.

I loved it. I carefully ran my fingers along the smooth fabric.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Hopefully, it wasn't Tanael, but when had he ever been polite enough to knock before entering my room?

"Come in!" I called out and was delighted when Aza peeked through the door crack.

"Oh, Myrina! You look stunning!" she exclaimed enthusiastically, beaming from ear to ear. She immediately stormed into my room and pulled Zuri behind her. Her eyes also sparkled when she saw me.

"Aza's right!" She sat down on my bed. "Beautiful!"

"What are you two doing here?" I asked in surprise. "Not that I'm not happy to see you, but unfortunately, I don't have much time, as Tanael and I are about to attend a dinner invitation at Hades and Persephone. Hence the dress." I pointed down at myself sheepishly.

"We already know that," Aza continued enthusiastically. "That's why we're here. Or did you want to do your own hair?"

"With such a stunning dress, you should wear matching earrings." Grinning, Zuri held up some jewelry.

Aza pushed me to the dressing table and unpacked brushes, clips, and hair accessories. While she brushed my hair and kneaded it into soft waves, Zuri placed three different stilettos in front of me.

"Can't I wear simple ballerinas under the dress?" I looked uncertainly at the high heels.

"Absolutely not, Myrina Johnson," Aza intervened sternly. "An elegant evening dress like this needs the right shoes."

"How about these?" Zuri asked, holding the pair with the lowest heels before my feet. I nodded gratefully, which she answered with a wink.
