"You and business? I mean your father and brother are businessmen. You're the socialite, good-time girl." She said it like it was a good thing.

"That's not all I am."

She quirked her head like Faith was some exhibit in a museum. Then the woman pointed at Beck. "Can you get me a martini?" Then she turned back to Faith. "We should hit up this club my friend was telling me about-"

"He's not your fucking bartender," I said. "We're done here."

Faith opened her mouth to protest, but that protest died on her lips when she saw my face.

I don't know how she fucking did it but she extricated herself from Brittney with a few soothing words and pats to her shoulders. She was probably doing whatever the hell she could to smooth things over, but I hated every second of it. Hated that she felt like she needed to do that on my behalf. Just another fucking reason I didn't deserve this woman standing next to me.

Finally, she threaded her hand in mine. I squeezed it and towed her to the safety of our room, Beck trailing close behind us.

There was nothing I wouldn't do to keep the woman beside me safe.

Faith excused herself, wanting to freshen up before bed. I'd kissed her on the forehead and poured myself a drink the second the door to the bathroom snicked shut. I waited until the shower started before saying anything.

“So much for flying under the radar.”

Beck assumed that wide stance of his, arms crossed. "How much longer are we going to be here?"

I brought the glass to my lips and downed two fingers of sipping whiskey in one go.

Beck frowned. "It's a disgrace to throw that liquor back like it's a shot of bottom-shelf booze."

I hummed. He wasn't wrong. I sank down in the armchair that overlooked the strip. "I want to fly as far from this place as possible."

"I wouldn't be opposed to going home early myself." Beck usually avoided out-of-town assignments.

"How's Alice?”

Beck smiled. "She's good. I got her a phone, so she can text me when I'm out. She loves abusing that privilege." My friend handed over his phone. "You can scroll."

Sure enough, there was photo after photo of Alice going about her day. Alice going down the slide. Alice eating an ice cream. Alice having tea with her stuffed animals.

I placed the phone in Beck's open palm. "Looks like a comprehensive play-by-play."

Beck shrugged. "It helps."

I gave a solitary nod.

"Back to getting the hell out of Vegas," Beck started.

My eyes immediately drifted to the bathroom door. "Let me call Harrison first thing in the morning.”

I trusted Faith's intuition about her supposed friend. Had seen how she interacted with Daisy and Luna. I knew without a doubt that this woman was bad news. Call it a hunch, but I'd grown a billion-dollar business by listening to my gut and wouldn't stop listening now.

"We'll leave first thing in the morning," I decided. "Make sure you and your crew are ready."

FAITH

"How the hell did she snap a photo?" Sebastian shouted from the other room.

I threw my pillow over my face not loving the way he decided to wake me up this morning. "Come back to bed."
