“I did,” he said, a frown pulling at the corner of his mouth.

Dominic and his father shared a look and left. Dominic patted my back reassuringly as he went to whisper to the women. Soon the room had cleared out except for me and Harrison. Even Sophie and Faith had left with the rest of the group.

But fuck, to explain this to Harrison before explaining this to Faith. That was fucked up.

I could see her hurt from across the room. The curiosity that I might divulge my secrets for a prospective client but not for her.

Fuck that.

"Actually, Harrison, I have a few things I need to clear up with Faith first. I owe her that. If the offer is still on the table, I'd love to come to London, and I'll explain everything. And if I'm not the best fit for your company, then so be it."

I stood, sending the chair rocking on its feet, and swallowed the distance between me and Faith. Her eyes practically doubled in size as she realized what I was doing.

"Are you sure?" Her voice was quiet. Low.

And I raged against the protective senses that flared within me. This woman deserved a man who puts her first.

I would be that man.

Forever.

FIFTY

FAITH

Sebastian and I didn't say a word as we drove to his place in the city.

I wished it were the place upstate, but this was the next best thing.

The usual comfortable silence had been replaced with a heavy weighted blanket. Almost oppressive. But that was more likely my anxiety kicking into high gear.

This had to be a good sign, right? At least it meant that he was open to talking. After that failed conversation at his house, and me abruptly stopping him from having this conversation at Luna’s club, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I wiped my hands on my wool coat, then shrugged off the offending garment.

Where’s the air conditioner in this thing?

I tapped a few buttons on the dash in a futile attempt to get some air on my face.

Sebastian frowned. “Everything alright?”

I used my hand to fan my face. “It’s great.” We were just a few blocks away and then I could use the chilled night air to calm me down.

Actually, how do I open the windows?

Sebastian continued to glance my way, the frown lines around his lips deepening.

“Are we there yet?” I asked, my voice sounding like a petulant toddler.

Sebastian chuckled.

Fucking A. I couldn’t wait any longer.

“Areyoubreakingupwithme?” The question burst from my chest like a geyser.

Sebastian swerved, and I scrambled for purchase as he parked the car on the street one block from the entrance of his building.

Sebastian's gaze practically melted the panties right off my body. It would really suck if he did want to break up with me because honestly he was the hottest, kindest, smartest, most incredible man I knew.
