She nodded. "It's a bucket list of sorts."

"Oh, my God, I love that." I stood up to take a closer look as I considered her request.

While I really did need to make progress on my collection, I would make time for Sebastian's mom. It's the least I could do considering he welcomed me into his home without a second thought. "I'd love to show you how to paint. I've taught a couple of classes to this teen group at my friend's library, so I know I can do it."

She beamed at me. "Should we start today?"

I laughed. "Sure, but let me get some sleep first."

“Oh and one more thing.”

I perked my head up. “What’s that?”

“I need your help filling out my dating profile.”

I blinked. “Your dating app?”

She shrugged casually. “I want to get back out there. A dating app sounds like the logical next step.”

“Sure, sure, sure. And does Sebastian know about this?”

The grin that smothered her face screamed, no. No, he did not.

THIRTEEN

SEBASTIAN

I wiped the sweat from my brow and looked down at my smart watch. Satisfied with the three miles of jogging, I turned around to make the return trip home.

The sun was just coming up over the horizon when I set out this morning, and I enjoyed the quiet of the morning when the birds sang in chorus and the rest of the world still slept.

The run did nothing to push Faith from my thoughts. She was constantly at the top of my mind.

I hadn't seen her since our quick coffee run yesterday. She'd holed herself up in the atrium. I was tempted several times yesterday to go and visit her, but decided against it, figuring the space would do me good.

She was my friend's sister and completely off limits. Faith deserved someone of her stature, someone who could be her equal and I was as far from that as they come.

Beyond that, she'd lost one parent last year and almost lost another just a few months ago. Combine that with the run-ins from the paparazzi trying to get more information about her family, and being hit in the face, she had too much going on for romance to be one of her priorities.

Not that I suspected she looked at me that way.

But sometimes I wondered. Did she feel the tug as much as I did?

I spent the rest of my run trying to dispel thoughts of her.

My phone rang as I started my post-run stretches. I always tried to cool off before hitting the shower and stationing myself in front of my computers.

"This is Sebastian," I said, not recognizing the number.

"Oh good, I got you," a woman said on the other end of the line. Luna Marks, to be specific. I'd recognize that raspy voice anywhere.

I checked my screen again. "Why are you calling from a different number?"
