I chuckled. “I bet she did.”

“She’s even talking about taking a trip to Florida. Apparently, one of her sons lives down there and is about to have a baby. She thinks the warm sun would be good for your dad.”

That seemed too soon. “What did the doctor say?”

Daisy shrugged. “He seems to be doing fine, plus they are watching him like a hawk. The doc said a few days away might be a good thing.”

“Presumably my brother has already found a doctor to travel with them?”

Daisy's shoulders bounced as she laughed. “Do you even need to ask?” Then she leaned in. “Okay, enough about your dad. You need to fill me in on everything that’s going on between you and the scrumptious Sebastian Steele.”

“Only if you tell me the latest gossip from your senior technology class.”

Daisy held out her hand. “Deal.”

THIRTY-FOUR

SEBASTIAN

“You tell me, Sebastian. Should I not trust you with my sister?” The words flew out of Dominic’s mouth the second Daisy followed after Faith. My legs were eager to join them, but I remained in my seat.

Was it too early to drink?

Fuck it, this was an exception to the rule. I walked to the small bar cart and poured myself two fingers of Irish whiskey. I lifted the bottle. “Want some?”

“Not now.” Dominic undid his suit jacket and crossed his leg at the knee.

I’d planned to sit at my desk and work on the project plan for Harrison Barnes while triaging a few of the security systems I set in place for some other bigwig clients. I liked to test my own security system for flaws and see how I could improve it.

Instead, I was here with Dominic when I’d much rather be alone in my office or tangled in the sheets with his sister.

Fuck, now was not the time to think about his sister naked.

I immediately started coding in my head.

Dominic cocked his head. “Stop stalling. Do you have feelings for my sister, Sebastian?”

I exhaled, driving my fingers through my hair. “Yes.”

“I fucking knew it. The way you look at her. The way she looks at you.”

“I didn’t mean for it to happen.”

“You better fucking not have.”

I drove a hand over my scruff. “This isn’t why I invited her here.”

My friend just shook his head in disbelief. “I got the impression you didn’t even like Faith. Hell, I think that’s part of the reason why I thought this was going to be a good idea.”

That made me pause. “Wait, you agreed so quickly to this because you thought I didn’t like her?”

Dominic’s gaze dropped to the table before looking at me again. “That’s an asshole thing to say, isn’t it?”

It was my turn to be affronted. “Well it doesn’t feel great, Dom.”

“I just meant, you two were never close but I trust you like a brother. I figured you two would just leave each other alone. My sister would be somewhere safe, and my friend would have some company. Win win.”

I pointed to him and then to myself. “You thought I needed company?”
