It’d been two months since we got engaged and we hadn’t even had a pregnancy scare once. And we hadn’t been exactly careful. But my periods had come on time every time and I wanted to cry.

“I hope so,” I said softly. He gently pulled out and turned me around, holding me against his chest.

“It’ll happen when the time is right,” he said. “It’s gonna be alright, baby doll.”

“I know,” I sighed as I wrapped my arms around his slick torso. “I just want it to happen already.” He laughed, pulling away to look down at me. He smoothed my wet hair from my face, his large thumbs gently wiping the water off my cheeks.

“It’ll happen,” he said before he kissed my forehead and I sighed, content.

I walked into the common room and locked eyes with Reid. He looked fucking dead. Heather was shot two months ago and nearly died. He spent every day with her when she was healing, but now it was like she didn’t want anything to do with him.

Really, she didn’t want anything to do with anyone.

She stayed locked in her room, and when she was out and around people, she was wasted or high off her ass. Or she was working out for hours on end. It was killing Takoda. She’d tried to talk to her, but Heather wouldn’t listen.

“Hey,” I said and jerked my chin at him as I approached, staring worriedly at the beer bottle in his hand. It was nine-thirty in the morning, but I didn’t think he’d been to bed yet. His blue eyes lazily flicked over as he watched me take the seat next to him. He slid over on the booth with a tired sigh. “How you doing, kid?”

“Just peachy,” he slurred as he brought the bottle to his lips. He downed the rest of it and tossed it to the floor. I cringed and anticipated glass shards shooting out in every direction, but thankfully, it didn’t break. I sat back, resting my arm across the back of the booth.

“Yeah, you look like you’re doing great,” I said dryly. “Maybe you should—”

“Don’t tell me what I should or shouldn’t do,” he snapped, his eyes red-rimmed and glassy. I swallowed thickly as I nodded. “I know what I need to fucking do. I don’t need to be told. I’m not a fuckin’ kid.”

“Right,” I said, not wanting to provoke him when he’s drunk. “Get some rest then. Sleep this off.” His jaw tensed as he glared at me, but he pushed to his feet, stumbling slightly as he stalked across the room and down the hall. I let out a long breath as I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees.

“Ax, hey.” I glanced up with a smile already on my face. “Have you seen Koda? I need her opinion on dresses.” Addie held up a binder and I swallowed my laugh.

Bash was going fucking insane dealing with wedding plans. I didn’t think he knew how much of a planner Addie was because he was dying and tired of making decisions. But she was adamant about him being involved with every decision, and him being pussy whipped, he couldn’t say no.

“She’s helping Skye with her hair,” I said, leaning back. She sighed and slid onto the booth seat next to me, resting her head against the back of it, her eyes closing. “Everything okay?”

“It’s this damn kid,” she said as she rubbed her slightly swollen belly. “It’s draining my energy.”

“Yeah, Jess was always exhausted with Skye,” I said. “But she wasn’t taking nearly as good care of herself like you are.”

Addie had been on another fucking level since her doctor told her she was toeing the line of gestational diabetes. She and Koda read some book about what helped with pregnancy—both getting pregnant and what to eat during the pregnancy. And they’d been following it to a fucking tee.

The hadn’t strayed once in the last four weeks, which meant Bash and I also haven’t strayed from it. I felt terrible because Koda thought it was her fault we hadn’t gotten pregnant yet. And no matter how many times I told her these things take time, she still thought it was something wrong with her.

“Yeah, Doc said it’s normal,” Addie sighed, then glanced at me. “And you? Any luck?” I dropped my head, shaking it.

“Not yet,” I said.

“Have you thought about getting checked? Both of you?” She asked quietly, glancing at the hall.

“I have,” I admitted, nodding. “I haven’t brought it up to her, though. It’s only been a few weeks of trying, some people try for years before it happens.”

“Yeah,” she said, tears lining her eyes. “It’ll happen.” She laughed and wiped at her cheek when one fell. “Sorry, hormones.” She shook her head, laughing again when more fell.

Skye’s laughter drew our attention to the hall moments before she and Koda emerged. Every damn time I saw this woman, she made my breath catch. She was so fucking gorgeous, it was painful.

Today, she was wearing her hair in loose waves and one of my favorite dresses. It was a teal sundress that looked so good against her tan skin and dark hair. Every time she wore it, I ended up fucking her at least twice a day in it.

Skye, not surprisingly, was wearing a Lightning McQueen t-shirt as a dress and her black motorcycle boots that she never took off. Her hair was split into two Dutch braids on either side of her hair. It also looked like she was able to talk Koda into putting makeup on her because her lips were extra pink and shiny.
