“Hi, Professor.”

I jolted at the sound, my spine snapping straight. My head whipped around, finding Cassandra leaning back against my car like she owned it. She gave me a coy smile as she let her gaze trail down my body before flicking back to my eyes.

“Ms. Miller.”

“I thought we were past that,” she laughed. I stood my ground as I stared at her, wishing I was in my car, where my gun was safely hidden in the center console. Her head tilted to the side, and she toyed with the button on her jeans. “I think it’s time I cashed in on that offer. Don’t you think?”

“Offer?” I scoffed. “It’s blackmail. I offered you nothing.”

She shrugged and pushed off the car. “Semantics.”

“Call it what it is,” I snapped.

“You’re being ridiculous.” She rolled her eyes, looking petulant, and I nearly snapped.

In my head, I wrapped my hands around her throat and squeezed until I felt her life drain from her body. In my head, I discarded her like the trash she was. In my head, I drove to Winnie’s house, the high of killing Cassandra still coursing through my veins, and shot her boyfriend in the head before fucking her in his blood.

In my head, I was victorious.

In reality…

“Anyway, I’m cashing in. My dorm is just over there.” She threw her hand in the direction of her dorm, and I shuffled back a step. If I were seen entering or leaving her dorm room, I’d be destroyed. Everything I’d worked to hide would come out, and I could lose Winnie forever.

“Not there,” I said, shaking my head. “Get in the car.” Her blonde brows lifted in surprise, but she didn’t argue as she rounded the car, her fingers trailing along the smooth black surface.

I glanced around the dark parking lot as I took the final few steps to the car. Thankfully, it was still empty, but we had to hurry. The last thing I needed was for anyone to see us. I unlocked the car, and she slid in. I gave myself a moment to breathe, trying to figure out what the fuck to do.

I had no fucking clue how I was going to get out of this.

Sliding onto my seat, I wasted no time starting the car and pulling out of the lot. My mind raced as I thought about where to go. I didn’t want to take her to my apartment, but where else could we go? A hotel? But someone could see us there. The trees…but that felt like my special place with Winnie.

A hand snaked onto my thigh, dangerously close to my crotch. “I felt something here the other day,” Cassandra murmured. “What was it?”

“Nothing.” My jaw clenched as I turned down the road I’d taken only a few days ago with Winnie.

“Come on, Professor. You can tell me. What was it?” Her breath ghosted along my cheek, warm and unwanted. Every muscle in my body was taut, about to snap. The leather creaked as I tightened my grip on the steering wheel.

I turned into the trees, disappearing from any prying eyes, and parked near the same spot Winnie and I had been at. Cassandra’s tongue flicked my earlobe, and I squeezed my eyes shut.

I did not want this.

“Move. I need to get a condom,” I snapped, but it lacked any real fire. She knew she had all the power, and one way or another, I’d have to fuck her tonight. I didn’t want to. I didn’t want to be anywhere near her, but what choice did I have?

She leaned back against her door, her fingers moving to the button on her jeans as I opened the center console. I looked down, the moonlight shining through the window, illuminating the metal sitting there. It was loaded and ready. All I had to do was pull it out of its safe place and point.

Shoot.

Reaching in, my hand wrapped around the cool handle, and I glanced up, finding Cassandra’s gaze with mine. A feline smile was plastered on her face—she looked triumphant, like she thought she’d somehow won.

In one motion, I pulled the gun out and grabbed a handful of her hair with my free hand. She gasped as I jerked her forward, and for a brief, fleeting moment, I saw the lust in her eyes. The way she thought I was playing into this, like I was being rough with her on purpose. I saw the way she liked it—the hitch in her breath when she thought I was going to force her to suck my cock.

But it all melted away when the metal pressed against her temple. “What—what the fuck?—”

“Shut up,” I snarled, my voice deathly low. I pressed harder against her skin, digging the barrel into it until I was sure she’d see a mark.

“Emm—”

“Don’t say my fucking name.” My grip tightened in her hair as I jerked her head. Her eyes were massive, and her breathing was ragged for an entirely different reason. She wasn’t turned on anymore. She wasn’t the victor anymore, and we both knew it.
