Fifteen
RIDLEY
Less than an hour after Leif woke up and proposed, I’m dressed in my gear with a bulletproof vest and smile on. I step through the door into the warehouse where my brothers have been keeping a watch on my enemy.
I know that Andrei and Dmitri need to get back to their women, so I’m going to end it now. I walk right up to him. Roger’s head rolls up, and I see him smile an almost toothless grin. My brother worked him over really good. I look down and see they smashed his feet and cut off a few fingers. He’s bloody and bruised everywhere. His nose is broken. His face looks like raw hamburger.
“Ready for me to fuck you?” Roger slurs, and I pull my gun and shoot him in the crotch before saying anything to him. He screams and cries.
“Die, fucker. You have no more power over me.” I move behind him and holster my gun before I slice his throat open.
“Damn, remind me to not piss off Printsessa Ridley.” Dmitri jokes, and I turn to look at him.
“He fucked with the wrong Bratva family. I’m done hiding and not living my life because of him.”
I walk over to my brother Gray and hug him. “I’ll see you later with Erika at the hospital.”
“I’ve always been here, Ley.” He tries not to choke on his words, and I see the pain I’ve caused him.
“I thought doing it alone was my only choice.” I look at Andrei. “I thought I was protecting you both, and I didn’t want Otets to know. I now know how wrong I was. Thank you both.”
Andrei pulls me into his chest and my tears pop up. I’ve cried more recently than I have in years.
“Go home and marry that girl. Then come see me, or I’ll be coming to see you.” I laugh, but the sob breaks through.
“I never stopped worrying about you, Ley. I love you and will do anything for you and Gray.” He kisses me on my forehead, and I look up at him. “Don’t ever fear coming to us again. If I could kill all of them over for the pain they caused you, I would.”
“It’s over now. I know that Gambit should take care of Crank.”
“Go take care of your man. We expect him to make it official.”
I laugh and step away. “He proposed before he went to sleep. Otets was there and just laughed because he didn’t ask for permission.”
“We need to get back. Come see us as soon as he’s better.”
I hug Dmitri, Mikhail, and Alek next before I walk out of the warehouse knowing that Andrei already has a cleaner on the way.

When I walk through the door back into Leif’s room in the ICU, I see he’s sitting up a bit. He watches me with an intense look in his eyes. I smile at him and then look over to my father. I know he has to go soon, and part of my heart hurts.
“I’ll let him stay for a bit,” a voice says from behind me, and I turn, ready to swing, but Commander anticipated the move and stops it. “Relax, Rogue.” He calms me and I step back.
“Thank you,” I say before I move to the bed and the man I love. I lean down to kiss him.
“Is it done?” he asks.
“Yes. Just Crank is left, but Gambit is taking care of him.”
“Good.”
“Rogue, we need to talk,” Commander says and moves back to the door after he talks to my father for a bit. I kiss Leif again, then I hug my papa.
We step into the hall, and I notice that Commander’s head is on a swivel. This shouldn’t surprise me because it always was.
“You owe me,” he says, and he’s right, I do. He came and helped me. “But not because I helped you.”
