“I can’t wait.” She lays her head on my chest.

“I love you, Ley.” I kiss the top of her head.

“I love you too, Leif. Thank you for thawing my heart and soul, for giving me everything I never knew I needed.”

I lift her chin and kiss her deeply.

Epilogue Two

RIDLEY

SIX YEARS LATER

I watch as my sweet little boy walks into the building. He wouldn’t let me follow him in, but he doesn’t need to know that I have Browser hacking all the cameras in the school so I can watch him wherever he is.

My son.

I look over to my husband, who has our daughter in his arms. We adopted her from Latvia. My father helped us. He’s a proud grandpa and comes to see all his grandbabies whenever he can. Julian doesn’t arrest him. They stick to the agreement they made when Leif was shot years ago. I never learned the details.

Leif wraps his other arm around me and pulls me in close.

“He’ll be safe, Mama,” he tells me.

“No worry, Mama,” Lilith says as she falls toward me, and I take her in my arms as she cuddles into me.

My life is complete. My heart is no longer frozen in fear. I’m not afraid to be touched, and I never fear fighting back. I know my family would kill anyone who tried to hurt me or my kids. The Black Unit would go dark like they are trained to do, and we’d avenge those we love and care for.

I’ve blended my Bratva family with my military one, and what we’ve created is a unit that can withstand anything.

Try us if you don’t believe it.
