He nods. “And block the way for other people in the process. It’ll be a really hot kiss, too. One where parents need to cover their kids’ eyes so they don’t have to see all the NC-17 action. So inappropriate.”

“Are we going to have sex on the street?”

He shakes his head. “The hotness would be too much for other people to handle. They’d go blind immediately. We’ll keep that behind closed doors.”

His lips move lower and lower until I can feel his breaths whisper over my skin. My eyes flick between his eyes and his mouth.

“Is that so?”

There’s a fire burning in his gaze, and I can’t wait to be fully on the receiving end of it. Maybe not here in the middle of the street, but I wouldn’t mind a short preview.

His palm moves to the side of my neck, his fingers curling into my skin, fingertips warm and steady. We meet in the middle. His lips on mine and mine on his feel overwhelmingly right from the very first touch. It’s almost dizzying, because I’ve never felt anything like this before.

I’ve kissed before. Of course, I have. Boys in college and men I met in bars when my coworkers and I have gone for afterwork drinks. Guys in clubs and people my siblings have set me up with.

Nothing has felt this intense and wonderful from the very beginning, though.

Caleb’s chest expands against mine as he sucks in a breath and pulls me closer. Our lips part and our tongues tangle. He tastes like summer and smells like smoke, and from now on, bonfires will probably always remind me of this kiss.

My arms move around Caleb, and I pull him even closer. He crowds into me, and I can’t help it when my fingers sneak underneath his jacket and splay on his back. His skin is smooth and warm, and he shudders as I move my hand lower, right where his waistband is. His tongue slides over mine, and I moan into his mouth.

Caleb’s kiss erases all other kisses I’ve had in my life. He raises the bar for what kisses should feel and taste like, and I’m not sure anybody but him could ever live up to those standards. And frankly, I don’t want to find out if anybody could.

“Holy fuck,” Caleb whispers against my mouth, and I laugh, and he laughs, and a bike messenger flips us off and throws in a “Stop blocking the road, you fuckers” for good measure. Ah, romance.

Caleb’s palm moves over my cheek, and I lean into the touch. “Come on. I’ll feed you dinner at my place.”

I nod, he grabs my hand in his, and we start walking.

We don’t talk much on the way to his place. I don’t have much room for thoughts or conversation, not when I have all these feelings inside me that demand to be felt.

Caleb unlocks his door and ushers me inside. His place is nice. There’s lots of room and air, and that’s about all I notice of the apartment since I only seem to have eyes for Caleb.

“Take a seat,” he says, and I position myself on one of the stools at the counter. Caleb is directly behind me, his front against my back. He’s in no hurry to move as he leans closer, resting his chin on my shoulder.

“What are you in the mood for?” he murmurs, catching my earlobe between his teeth the moment the last word leaves his mouth.

“Surprise me.”

He chuckles, and the low sound goes straight to my balls.

“You got it.”

I reach behind me just as he’s about to move, keeping him locked against me.

“On second thought, I’m not that hungry.”

He laughs and kisses the side of my neck.

“Patience. I think we should eat. Might need the energy later.”

The way his lips move against my skin, combined with the words he’s saying, makes my breath come out as a shuddery exhale.

“I’ve got plenty of energy,” I argue, just as my stomach contradicts me with a loud rumble.

“Busted,” Caleb says and plants another kiss on my mouth before he pulls away.

He goes to the fridge and pulls it open, taking out ingredient after ingredient. He moves with ease and efficiency.
