Oh, yeah. She’ll do just fine.

“I’ll get our operations manager for you. She manages the day-to-day, and she’ll be able to give it to you straight about how it is behind the scenes here.”

“Fantastic, that works for me.”

“Excellent.” I look over to the wall of windows.

Sonia isn’t at her desk. She could be anywhere.

Fuck.

I wave our sommelier over.

He has just delivered a round of wine to a group of members hosting an impromptu chess tournament, so he should be free for a couple of minutes. He wafts over to us.

I introduce the two of them and he engages Villanueva in a conversation about a specific provincial Italian grape.

I don’t have time for this. I need to find Sonia and clinch the deal.

Touching the sommelier’s arm, I keep glancing around, hoping to spot my operations manager. “Have you seen Sonia, by the way?”

He squints, thinking way too hard about this question. “I think she was working on a complaint about the sauna.”

“Great, thanks.” I leave them to their dry wine talk—no pun intended—and head through the door to the exercise wing.

Chlorine hits my nose as I walk down the long hall to the open dome of the pool where some members are doing laps and others are enjoying the hot tub.

However, my eyes gravitate toward the sauna door that is halfway propped open.

I stride over and poke my head in.

The sauna is not even close to as hot as it should be.

But Sonia is inside, bent over the stones, no doubt examining why they’re not heating as they should.

I swallow. I know I should make my presence known, but the way she’s bent over, moving back and forth, ass rocking side to side. God, I can’t stop watching. It’s hypnotic.

She stands up, resting her hands on her hips with a heavy sigh. “Stupid fucking thing…”

Okay, Edwin,stop your daydreaming. “Ehem.”

Sonia whips around. “What?”

Her body jolts.

My eyes flick to the floor where her heel has gotten stuck between the wood-paneled floor.

Sonia throws her hands in the air and starts to tumble forward.

And I’mrightin the way.

I try to brace myself for impact and make to grab onto the doorframe, but my hand misses, and I fall backward onto the tile floor of the pool deck.

Thank god, I manage to keep my head from hitting the ground, but my back screams out in pain.

“Oh, my god!” Sonia cries out from on top of me. “Are you okay, are you–”

I groan. “I’m alive if that’s what you’re asking.”
