Page 26 of Bulls and Their Boy

That was the way it started with all the rest of the boys we’d thought we wanted, and all they were after was the sex and kink. We wanted Joel for much more.

Eli came to visit that same day, likely to check on us and see how things were going. He informed us right away, as we were in the barn, looking around again, for the hundredth time, “He said you all have a deal that he wouldn’t fuck no one at the rodeo.”

“He told you that?”

Damon laughed and told me, “Of course, he did. That boy doesn’t hold back a thing.”

Eli looked worried, so I asked, “What’s wrong?”

“It’s just, I love the guy. He saved my life. If he can’t be what you want, then how awkward is this going to be? You’re my two best friends, but he is too, and you both saved my life on different occasions. This isn’t one of those choose which side gets you , kinda break ups. If that happens, I can’t choose.”

I hugged him to me and kissed his head. “I’d never, ever make you choose. That’s why we’re doing it like this, to form a bond before anything real starts.”

Damon agreed, “As much as I want to fuck the hell out of that boy, and I do?”

“He does,” I whispered.

“I want him for more. I actually, truthfully like him. He works hard, he wants to know things. Well, a little too much at times.”

I told Eli, “He watched us fucking our architect.”

Eli busted up laughing, and we joined him. After the shock had worn off, we found it hilarious. “He’s…so strange! But in all the best ways. He’s tough and I think he’s really smart, like really smart, but he hides behind that twang he’s got.”

Damon smacked his arm lightly as he agreed, “We thought so too!”

Eli went on, “He’s thrown big words in at me a few times, like someone speaking English throwing in a Spanish word because it’s their native language. Like as natural as anything. He’s definitely interesting, that’s for sure.”

After the talk of Joel ended, Eli walked slowly around the barn. “Any decisions yet?”

“We’ve almost agreed on everything. Roland is working up the new sketches now, minus the mechanical bull,” I added, still upset about that.

“Too much insurance,” Damon finished for me. “Like more than we’re going to be paying for the rest of the place.”

“Damn, but there has to be alternatives.”

“Like?”

Eli thought about it for a minute, and I could see the wheels turning in his head. “They have bulls that aren’t mechanical, on ranches. They’re set up with ropes and stuff. Even if it’s just for decoration. Then…now hear me out, as there are a lot of Daddy/littles now. I saw a bunch at that last club I was at a few years ago and have been hearing more about them.”

I figured it out quickly. “Rocking horses?”

Damon chuckled and whispered, “Brilliant. We know a couple guys with littles. Plus, they’re cute, and would fit in with the theme. Brilliant.”

“I’ll call Roland,” I sighed, loving the idea, but even after the fuck, Roland was likely getting tired of our additions.

After speaking to Roland, and listening to him giggle about the rocking horses, I told the two he was on the new sketches. “No more ideas. Joel was bummed about the mechanical bull, but he understood when he saw what that would cost, adding in the insurance.”

“Must be why they took them all out of the bars that used to have them. I’m sure they made money, but drunk people on those things…”

We agreed on that. “I think we’re better off,” I said, and we went in for a beer and so I could show him the newest, though not the final, sketches.

Chapter Eight

The days of Joel’s absence were hard. I thought about him a lot, and I could tell Damon was too. His easy laughter and goofy grin were parts of the place already. It didn’t seem the same without him.

Both of us occupied ourselves on our prospective projects, and we finalized the plans with Roland, who was as relieved as we were. No, he was likely more relieved.

I received a call from my mother during that time, and I cringed when I saw her picture on my screen. I was about to get her wrath, but I answered as cheerily as I could. “Hi, Mom! I was just about to call you.”
