THEO

“The place we’re going to has thebestcrab,” I say, giddy that I get to take Lindsey there. But when I glance over at her, she has a funny look on her face.

“I’m actually a vegetarian,” she says.

“Oh.” My feet slow. “Shoot. Okay, let’s see. We could go to…wait, so you don’t eat any meat?”

“Nope,” she says. “But don’t worry about picking a different place. There’s always something on the menu that I can eat.”

I shake my head. I don’t like the idea of her settling for a boring salad or something. “No, let’s go to this other place instead. It’s a…uh, vegan place, I guess? Will that have things that you’ll like?”

Lindsey’s eyebrows raise. “It will. But are you sure you want to go there?”

“Yeah. Totally. I’m always up for trying something new.”

The place I’m thinking of is just up the block. As we walk up to it, I rush ahead to pull open the door for Lindsey. Shesmiles and thanks me, her gorgeous eyes briefly meeting mine. My heartbeat quickens as she walks past me, our bodies almost brushing.

Wow, she evensmellsincredible.

Inside the restaurant, there’s a counter where we’re supposed to order. The menu is full of a bunch of stuff I’ve never heard of before. I decide to go for the vegan burger, asking for extra pickles and grilled mushrooms, and Lindsey orders the same.

“Nice,” I say, grinning as I hold up my fist for her to bump. “Burger twins.”

She stares blankly at me for a second, then laughs and bumps my fist.

The dining area is filled with small tables. The chairs don’t look very sturdy, and I hold my breath as I settle into one, waiting to see if it can hold my weight. When it doesn’t break, I let out the breath I’m holding and relax.

Across from me, Lindsey is digging through her bag. I watch as she pulls out a tube of chapstick, pops off the cap, and swipes it over her lips. When she rubs her lips together, my cock responds with a hard throb.Oof. I shift in my seat, adjusting myself.

“How long have you been a lifeguard?” she asks. She’s fiddling with her silverware now, nudging the fork and the knife back and forth on the paper napkin they’re sitting on.

I tally up the years in my head. “Let’s see. It’s been…whoa. It’s actually been ten years.”

“Oh, really? Well, happy tenth anniversary.”

“Thanks. Yeah, that’s crazy. I didn’t realize it had been that long. What do you do?”

“Coding,” she says. “I develop websites and mobile apps.”

I give an impressed nod. “Wow. Nice. What websites? Can I see?”

She pauses. “You want to look at the websites I’ve worked on?”

“Yeah. Absolutely.”

“I mean, they aren’t all that interesting. It’s just corporate websites, stuff like that.”

I dig my phone out of my pocket, pull up a blank tab, and hold out my phone. “Show me. I want to see.”

She hesitates, but takes my phone and types something in before handing it back. When I look at the screen, I see a website for some kind of investment firm. I scroll down the page and tap on a few random links.

“You built this?” I ask. “From scratch?”

“Yep.”

“That’s awesome. How do you even do something like that?”
