I wouldn’t have expected to have the energy for another round, but his touch and the expert way he worked down my body again soon had me getting hot and wet all over again. He didn’t spend any time with the whip this time, instead lavishing kisses and deft strokes all over my more sensitive parts, working his way to my nipples first and then down to my pussy.

He teased me again, building me up as before, two fingers inside me and his thumb and mouth outside on my clit, taking me higher just to slow and let me cool again. Within minutes, I was a quivering mess once more, eager for him to finish me off.

This time, he didn’t hold out on me for so long but gave me another release, somehow even more intense than before. As before, he soon wrapped his arms around me, cradling my body into his as I pulsed with passion and the afterburn of everything he’d done to me.

“Well done, sweets,” he whispered in my ear. “You were perfect.”

I snuggled back into him as he finally reached up and undid the wrist restraints. He gently removed the blindfold, and I blinked at the brightness of the room for a moment before he flicked the lights off and pulled the covers over us.

Feeling buzzed, adored, and highly content, I drifted off to sleep.

CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE

Time was passing so fast on the project that I only realized it had been two weeks since I had spoken to any of my friends and family back in the UK when I handed the last of the kids’ kits I’d made to Sarai.

While I had been finishing the interior designs of yet more of the huts and scouring the antiques shops and markets, I’d had to go further and further out as the resources close to our location on the south edge of Chicago dried up of anything I liked. It had made everything take longer, and I’d worked harder.

I’d barely seen Lukas since the night he’d taken me out to celebrate and done all sorts to my body afterward. But it wasn’t for lack of wanting to. I craved every moment with him in a way I never thought I could. And our moments had been hot, his desire for me only matched by my desire for him.

Still, we had jobs to do, and this project was a beast to keep on track and on time. It was proving harder and harder. Even Sarai and Richard had been working later and going out less.

“Oh, you star,” Sarai said when she saw the stack of folders I had created. With it all was a thumb drive, every document, puzzle, and piece of paper saved in electronic form and labeledby hut number and style to make sure it could easily be replicated again and again for every customer who needed it.

I exhaled with relief and sat at the spare office desk. I’d used it a few times in the last few weeks, especially in the evenings when the stores had been closed and I’d been working on these, but it was clear now. I was done. Other than any changes Richard and Sarai wanted, I would hopefully never see them again.

When I had done the first few to help explain some of my choices in the African-themed huts, I hadn’t considered how much work it would be to replicate it for all of them. It had devoured hours and hours of my time. Still, it was finished, and I had just about managed to stay on top of the rest of the work needed.

“You look exhausted, my dear. Let me get you a cup of tea.” Sarai smiled and bustled over to the small kitchenette in the corner of the site office. I considered getting up to protest, but I knew Sarai. She wouldn’t have it.

It didn’t matter that she was in charge. If she decided she needed to do something to help, she was going to do it. And I had to admit, I was grateful.

“We’ve all been working very hard.” Richard got up, went over to one of the cupboards, and pulled out a cookie jar. I grinned as he brought it over to me and offered me the contents. It was always a warm welcome from these two.

Sarai glanced back over her shoulder as she set three mugs on the side. “There’s a lot to do, and we hired the right people.”

I couldn’t disagree with her. From everything I had heard of building projects, I had expected a lot more of a scope creep. It was insane how well they’d managed to keep focused and keep everyone motivated. It seemed to help that everyone wanted to work as a team.

A familiar car noise came from the parking lot, and I felt my breath catch in my throat. My heart raced as I listened for the sound of footsteps and how many there might be. Lukas had been to the site several times since Henry had been unkind, and only once had his PA come with him, but from my understanding, both were due to check in today and sign off a few more huts.

I didn’t know if Lukas would come into the site office first, as he usually did, or head straight out to the huts, as he did when he had Henry with him these days. I wanted to see Lukas, but I didn’t particularly want to bump into his PA at all.

To my surprise, the footsteps came toward the door, however, and I could hear muffled voices from outside. I barely dared to breathe as the handle turned, and Lukas came in. Henry followed, but he was carrying two boxes.

“Darlings!” Henry declared as he came in. He walked right over to my desk and popped one of the two boxes down in front of me. “I understand you two lovely ladies have been working particularly hard for the last two weeks.”

I lifted an eyebrow as he took the second box straight over to Sarai. It was white and looked like it would contain food, but I wasn’t sure if I should open it until Lukas winked at me. He had another one that he handed to Richard. He then took a cookie from the still-open jar and came over to me.

“I haven’t seen you enough lately,” he whispered as he bent to kiss my cheek. I flushed and focused on the box to keep from thinking about him enjoying me some more. We had not seen enough of each other lately. “You can open it; it’s safe.”

The words were comforting and whispered quietly enough that no one else could hear him over Sarai opening her gift and exclaiming, “Oh, you shouldn’t have! This is beautiful.”

More curious than scared now, I opened mine as well. Inside was a beautiful silk scarf in a deep purple color. It was a very generous gift, and I wasn’t sure what had warranted it.

“I figured you’d both earned it for the skill and talent that you’ve put into this project. It’s a dream to work on, even if we don’t all appreciate it all the time. That, and Lukas told me what he plans for this weekend,” said Henry.

“Plans for this weekend?” I asked. It was still Tuesday, and I had no idea what they might be talking about.

“It’s Labor Day. Everyone takes a long weekend.” Lukas looked over at me and winked again.
