But when I look over my shoulder, I can see she’s falling behind.

And I can see her tilting her head back to look at the black metal ceiling as she walks.

“Hey, Green Eyes.” I try for her attention again.

Natalie drops her chin so she’s back to looking forward. “Huh?”

I smile. “We’re almost there.”

“Don’t worry about me.” As she says it, her toe catches on the floor, and she stumbles.

I let go of my luggage handles, but she catches herself with a laugh before I get to her.

“Christ, Woman,” I grumble, taking the suitcases from her hands.

“What?”

I shake my head, putting the pairs of luggage back to back and pushing all four at once. “If you fall one more time, I’m going to have permanent heart damage.”

She snorts. “If I fall one more time, I’m just going to stay there.”

“Well, let’s get you inside so you can fall into bed. You can unpack tomorrow.”

Natalie makes a noise of agreement as I reach the door.

I unlock it and shove the luggage through, letting them roll a few feet on the concrete floor, then I hold the door open. And Natalie steps into my home.

Chapter 90

Natalie

I blink.

Then I blink again. Because Luke’s condo is nothing short of stunning.

It’s all blacks and woodgrains, with exposed ductwork and raw brick on the outer walls.

The feel is dark and a little edgy but also extremely cozy.

I can imagine curling up on the giant couch with a storm raging outside the black-framed windows and the Edison bulb chandeliers on low.

Iron and raw-wood shelves are built into the walls, covered with well-cared-for potted plants. And the shelves turn into a well-stocked bar situated in the space between the living area and the airy kitchen.

The whole place almost has a speakeasy feel to it. And I love it.

“Do you?—”

“I love it.” I cut Luke off, saying exactly what I’m thinking.

“Yeah?”

Hope tints his voice, so I turn to face him. “Luke, it’s beautiful. Like…” I shake my head. “Like really beautiful.”

His smile is slow. “Thanks, Princess. I’m glad you like it.”

My feet throb, reminding me I need to get off them.

I toe my shoes off. “I hope you know I’m going to dig through all the cupboards tomorrow.”
