As she pours my cup, I take a deep breath, enjoying the scent ofchocolate and cinnamon mixed with the nostalgic scent of a hockey rink.

There’s something about it.

The ice.

The chilled air.

It’s always going to feel like home.

No matter where life takes us.

No matter what we accomplish.

No matter where we go.

This will always feel like home.

Taking the cup from Natalie, I move it to my far hand so I can pull her into my side.

I turn my head, pressing my lips to her hair. “I’m so fucking proud of you.”

My wife tips her gaze up to meet mine. “Because of the flavor?”

Her green eyes are full of soft humor.

But she knows.

She knows that the world is better with her in it.

I hold her tighter. “Because of everything.”

Natalie

This life of mine.

I wouldn’t change it for the world.

It’s wild to look back. To see all we’ve been through. All we’ve done.

Luke rests his head against mine.

I fill my lungs with his warmth. And I feel the peace in the center of my chest. Where my hummingbird is splayed out on a pile of fluffy love.

Love that Luke has given us.

Love that he’s spoiled us with.

And even after all these years, I fall asleep every night knowing that the softness inside my chest is only going to keep growing.

Because Luke is mine.

And because no matter how much time goes by, I’ll always be his Princess.
