“Hmm. Okay. Just this once.” I know she’s being playful, but I can’t help but frown at her reply. I watch as she places the pad of her index finger to where my dimple normally sits as I smile at her. She teases the space until I chuckle.

“There it is.” She giggles.

“Is five o’clock, okay?”

“Yes. Where’d you have in mind?”

“How about Neptunes? The seafood restaurant. Have you eaten there yet?”

“Oh, I’ve wanted to go there. That’s perfect.”

Heading to my room, there’s no need to coax my dimple out now. It might be permanently indented there.

“Oh, I love this place,” Poppy says. She’s wearing a teal blue halter dress with an open back. The color brings out her eyes. But the exposed skin of her back is toying with my dick. I want to spend the evening trailing my fingertips up and down the gentle slope of her spine. This woman is a goddess. I honestly don’t think she has any idea how beautiful she is. In fact, that might be one of her most alluring features.

“I cannot believe you did this.” Poppy twists from side to side, modeling her new shoes. “How on earth did you manage to find these? And they fit perfectly.”

“I had some help.” Boy, is that an understatement. It took more trouble than she’ll ever know to get those replacement shoes here. Two days, a lot of money, and a lot of phone calls. But to see how happy they make her, it was worth every bit of effort.

She walks closer, sliding her arm through mine. “Do you know what you want? I was so hungry I looked at the menu from the app after I got out of the shower.” She laughs. “I think Mystic Mountain worked up an appetite.”

Staring at this radiant creature, all I want to eat is her. Okay, surf and turf and then her.

I order a bottle of wine, and we casually sip, chat, and laugh until our meals arrive. To see this stunner of a woman cutting into a steak does things to me. She’s so genuine. No pretending to be something she thinks a man would want her to be. Women should eat what they want. Fuck the ‘I’ll just have a salad bullshit.’

Leaning in my direction, Poppy lowers her voice. “Have you looked over there?”

“Where?”

“Right beside us.” She tilts her head in the direction of the poor, run down cinderblock home surrounded by kids. And chickens.“My first day here, I went down to the beach. Way over there.” She points to the eastern most end of the resort property with her steak knife. “This woman kept calling,Hey Mammi. Jamaican people live in squalor next to these huge resort properties. So, they pull out anything they can find to sell to the guests who come here. I gave her twenty dollars for a picture of Bob Marley.” Poppy laughs. “Not sure what I’m gonna do with that.”

It’s then I wonder if the child from earlier was a resort guest or had managed to come over from their home next door. “I wonder if the kids ever sneak over and go to the pool.”

“Oh, I doubt it. The resort wouldn’t want to allow that to become a habit. I mean, they have a business to run.”

Hmm. He must’ve been a guest.

Finishing our meals, we decide to take a stroll on the beach before heading to the bar for a nightcap. Rolling up my pants, I kick off my shoes and place them with hers on a lounger before reaching for her hand and enjoying the ocean together.

I want to tell her how much I’ve enjoyed this, but I know she’s already nervous about the future. I don’t want to dig this hole any deeper.

Returning to the chaise, I sit down and pull her into my lap. “This is nice,” I say, burying my face in her windblown hair.Okay, I tried to keep my hands off. But hell. She’s irresistible.

“Yes. I think this may have been a perfect day.”

Walking into the lounge, I’m surprised to find it more raucous than our last visit. There are guests drinking and laughing at the bar, and several others are on the dance floor. All of the booths seem to be occupied, so we take a seat at the bar.

“What can I get you two?”

“I’ll have a frozen Margarita, please.”

“And I’ll have a scotch on the rocks.”

The music is loud. Much like you’d expect in a dance club. It’s more of a vacation, party vibe versus the dance music I find at the Devil’s Playground. This thought has me wondering what Poppy would think of the place. Would she be scandalized to know I go there? Would she believe I haven’t slept with anyone there in years? Would she ever take a walk on the wild side and join me?
