She smirked and set her head down on the face rest.

Leaning down, I kissed the back of her head, then set the stencil down the center of her back along her spine.

Goosebumps broke out over her skin. “That’s the spot where I wanted it, too. It represents us.”

It was the perfect placement for the sketch of two dragons wrapped around a figure with angel wings. Now we’d see if she could handle the next few hours.

I clicked on my machine. “You ready?”

“I guess we’re about to find out.”

Three hours into the process, I had nearly all of the main design inked onto her skin. The shading and details would come during a different session. Nerine had taken to the process better than most people I knew. Even most of those seasoned to the chair squirmed a time or two when a needle poked around near their spine.

Nerine seemed to enjoy the spike of adrenaline that came with the pain. It aroused her. The fact that Theo kept touching her added to the need coursing inside her.

All the lust hadn’t made my job any easier, either. Concentrating on a spinal piece with a hard-as-rock dick was no simple task, especially when a wicked woman in the chair kept commenting on my condition.

Thankfully, I’d gotten a small break from her torture. Over the last forty minutes, she seemed to have drifted off into sleep, utterly unaffected by the work on her back or the conversations Theo and I had around her.

Nerine never slept deeply unless she felt safe, and she had no worries with us.

The knot deep in my gut loosened. She trusted me and believed in me. Maybe I should start believing in myself.

Theo moved over to my side to watch as I put in the lines for the dragon tails wrapped around the waist of the angel.

“How much longer?”

“Fifteen or twenty, max.” I shifted my focus to his and caught his calculated intent.

My arousal grew, and for the briefest second, I thought he planned to fist my hair and bring my mouth toward his.

Instead, he said, “Let’s see how long this quiet and tranquil side of her lasts.”

“Don’t startle her awake,” I responded, pushing down my disappointment. “I still need to finish this. The last thing I want is to fuck up this design.”

“In that case, I’ll strap her in tighter.”

“The other option is to wait until I finish or ease her to consciousness.”

“What’s the fun in that?

“You’re still the jackass who liked to push her buttons. She’s going to give you a mouthful.”

“It’s the other way round.”

I shook my head. “No one would ever believe that under your public all-business persona lived an idiot adolescent with the need to pick on his girlfriend until she wanted to stab him.”

“It’s better than having your persona of a scary hothead who wants to clear the streets of dumbasses.”

“My way keeps people from talking to me. You have to be diplomatic.”

“Finish up. I need to concentrate and strip her and not wake her.” Theo slowly set his hands on Nerine’s hips and began to remove the remainder of her clothes.

It took him ten minutes since he had to adjust her legs a few times, and I’d never know how she remained in her zonked-out state. She’d squirmed a few times and shifted, but maybe she believed she was dreaming of the touches and caresses.

Finally, after completing all my work, I cleaned and covered up her back.
