“I don’t know, good twin... You think you can keep your hands to yourself if I get in that bed? We’re talking about my reputation, after all. I’d hate for you to think less of me in the morning.”

Her laughter lights up the room as she tosses back the blanket. “You’re such a goofball.”

“But a respectable one,” I tell her as I sit down next to her. “Pretty sure we’ve been here before, tiny dancer.”

“Seems like déjà vu, doesn’t it, god of war?”

I wrap an arm around her, and she rests her head against my chest.

“We’re still a bad idea, Ares.”

Acid churns in my gut with her words. “Give me one good reason.”

“I’ll give you two—my sister and your brother.” Even while she argues with me, her body relaxes, and she drapes an arm across my chest. “They’re going to give us so much shit.”

“So we don’t tell them,” I say, even though the words make me angrier than I thought they could. “Not yet. Not until we figure things out for ourselves.”

“Okay, how about the fact you live with my brother? Pretty sure that’s another reason,” she argues.

“Sweetheart, your brother lives with me. So does my sister and Caitlin. And I’m not asking any of them for their opinions on my life. You shouldn’t either.” My fingers draw lazy circles on her hip, just above her shorts, and I was right—her skin is so fucking soft.

“We haven’t even talked about the fact we live on opposite sides of the world... Like I said... we’re a terrible idea, Ares.”

I lift her chin so she’s looking at me. “So we’ll have to work for it. You don’t get to the levels you and I are at by being scared of hard work. Have you ever had anything great that was easy, baby? Because I’m a big believer that the harder the work, the sweeter the reward.”

And I have no doubt that Grace Sinclair will be the sweetest reward I could ever earn.

“How can you be so sure?” she whispers in the dark room, and a chill snakes down my spine.

“Because the first time I met you, I knew you were mine.”

GRACE

The scariest thing about crazy girls is they usually run in packs.

If you think I’m a lot by myself, you should see me with my friends.

Everly

Can someone please remind me that sandy sex is a no-go next time I decide a late-night walk on the beach with my husband sounds like a good idea.

Gracie

Eww, Evie! You seriously haven’t learned your lesson yet?

Lindy

Hey – I watched your kids so you could have that sandy sex. Suck it up buttercup and go take a shower.

Brynlee

What I wouldn’t give to have sand problems.

Gracie

Same.
