I don’t know how Kieran hasn’t found me yet.

I guess the house is massive, but still…

I don’t even hear footsteps.

Silence dominates. I feel like my ears are straining as I listen, trying to hear if he’s around me.

After a few minutes, I take a risk.

I flip the phone open and stare at the numbers. I need to call someone.

But who the heck am I supposed to call?

Marco is missing.

Dino’s sitting in Elio’s basement.

I never knew Sal’s phone number, since he never really had one. Marco has historically been the only one who could contact him.

Elio’s number…

He never gave it to me.

So, I make a quick decision. I dial the only phone number I can remember that isn’t Marco, Dino, or Sal.

“Gia,” I gasp into the phone when she picks up. “Help.”

“Caterina?”

“It’s me,” I whisper. I’m tucked inside the smallest corner, hoping like hell that whatever damage I did to the Irishman’s side is going to take him out of commission for a while.

“Are you okay?”

I don’t know.

“I’m wearing lingerie.”

“Did you put it on yourself?”

“No.”

“Cat,” she breathes. “Did he…?”

“No. I stabbed him.”

“How?”

“He had a knife on his belt.”

She whistles. “Sal taught you how to use a knife?”

“Yep.”

“Okay. Can you send me your location?”

I look at the flip phone. “It’s a burner.”

“Shit. Where are you?”
