“You said this wasn’t going to be an issue.”

Confusion causes my arms to drop slightly as I hold my pistol up. “The fuck?” I mutter.

“You said you’d take care of him!” MacAntyre snarls.

He’s looking at Nico.

The realization of what has happened flows slowly over me, like molasses. Nico’s face goes pale, and before I can process the information, Gia is on him. She kicks Nico’s feet out from under him, and when he’s facedown on the ground, she points a gun at the back of his head.

“Move and you die, Nico,” she hisses.

He sputters beneath her.

“Nico?”

There’s silence from my second in command.

That bastard.

That absolutebastard.

“You told the Irish about Caterina,” I murmur.

Nico grunts, but still doesn’t move.

“You…”

There’s no time for more.

The Irishman comes tumbling down the stairs. “You’ll fucking die, Rossi!” he growls.

He’s sloppy. He’s lost blood.

It’s too easy.

There’s two shots. Sal, I believe.

The Irishman drops like a stone.

I turn to look at Sal. “That was unwise.”

He shrugs. “We were never going to come to a peaceful solution. Plus he was halfway dead anyway.”

But I’m not paying attention anymore.

My only thought is Caterina.

“Go find her,” Gia says. She’s still got her pistol pointed at Nico, and Sal is using zip ties to secure Nico’s hands behind his back.

My lip curls as I look at him. I’m going to fuck him up so badly, his mother won’t be able to recognize him when I’m done.

Fucking traitor.

“Elio,” Gia whispers.

I look at her.

“The code word is Luna,” Gia says softly.
