She shrugged. “They just wanted to create some havoc, and I talked them into Hawaii. They’re so damned stupid.”

“Because Hawaii is isolated.”

“Right? They just didn’t see that while the mainland would be upset, they wouldn’t be affected like a bombing campaign say in the Midwest.”

“So why did you come here?”

Again she rolled her eyes. “You. You ruined everything.”

It was Tamilya’s turn to blink. “What?”

“You had people talking in the FBI. They were reviewing old cases.”

Tamilya opened her mouth to ask her more questions.

“That’s it. That’s all I owe you.”

“So, you’re going to die after all of this.”

“What?”

“You have a pipe bomb. You’re—”

“What in this story makes you think I’m going to kill myself? I amnota fucking martyr. I would have died for my country at one time, but they lost that loyalty long ago. No, this has a trigger. First, I shoot you, then I leave the bomb. By the time they realize I’m not here, I’ll be somewhere extradition is impossible, living with my millions.”

Sadly that was true. She could kill Tamilya and run away. It would be at least a day before they realized she was the only one there and Addie was off running around with her millions as she said. She had finally worked the key to her drawer out of her pocket, but she would have to bend down to unlock the drawer.

“Why are you waiting? Why don’t you just shoot me and be done with it?”

Marcus tried his best to cool his fear, the outright panic that now coursed through every cell of his body. They were just a couple minutes from TFH, but he knew that every minute meant that she could be lying there dead. Or worse, taken to another location.

He looked down at his phone. Still no answer.

“Anything?” TJ asked.

He shook his head.

No one spoke, but they heard the calls from other divisions. HPD and FBI were coming to help, but he knew they had the best chance.

Adam turned into the parking lot at break neck speed, crashing through the gate. He came to a screeching halt as they all hurried out of the car. His heart was in his throat, each beat seemingly blaming him for not seeing this. There had always been rumors about the woman, but now, it seemed that she was ready to throw it all out. What she gained out of this, he had no idea, and he didn’t give a fuck. What he cared about was saving Tamilya. He had never told her he loved her. He wanted her, needed her on a level that embarrassed him, but he had known for a while that he loved her. The way she smiled at him…or frowned. Shit, all she had to do was be breathing.

He was about to burst into the building, but Adam held him back.

“Get your hands off me, man,” he growled.

“Wait, we need to assess the situation. If we run in there without thought, we could get her killed.”

Marcus hated that Adam was right. He gave him a nod.

“Silence on the coms, hand signals,” Adam said. Then he looked at Marcus. “Maybe you should stay out here.”

He shook his head. “No way.”

“It’s the same reason we kept her here…”

Then his voice trailed off. “Which was a set up to get her alone. Addie has it out for her.”
