“Well, I did get shot,” Marcus said.

Del pulled out his phone texting someone.

“Are they still all here?” Tamilya asked.

Del nodded without looking up.

“Who?”

She smiled. “The TFH Ohana. They refused to leave.”

As he heard the noise outside his door, he knew they were going to get reprimanded by the staff, but he didn’t care. Everyone poured into the room. Someone flipped on the lights and Tamilya started to move away. He held on tight and she looked down at him with her eyebrows up.

“You stay right here.”

For a long second, the noise of their coworkers filled the room and she said nothing. Then, a smile curved her mouth. She settled against him; their hands still entwined.

Marcus couldn’t ask for anything more.

Epilogue

Three months later

Tamilya pressed her front against Marcus’ back and slipped her arms around Marcus’s waist as he pulled out the keycard to unlock their hotel room. His sister’s wedding had gone off without a hitch, and Tamilya was feeling particularly frisky tonight.

She let her hands slide down, inching towards his crotch. He was so warm and sexy. And warm. She blinked even as she pawed at him. Maybe she’d had too much to drink because her mind wasn’t really working right.

“Tammy,” he said, but there was enough heat in his voice to diminish the warning she knew he was trying to give her.

“What?” she said, changing directions and easing her hands up to his chest.

He opened the door a second later and they tumbled into the room, almost falling onto the floor. Marcus saved both of them. He righted them, then turned to face her. The passion in his gaze sent more heat spiraling through her, and a small dose of fear.

He stepped toward her and she squeaked and took off running. The fact that there was nowhere to run in their hotel room didn’t compute in her champagne fueled head.

“Tammy,” he said with a laugh as he caught hold of her. He swung her up into his arms and then laid her out on the bed. He covered her body with his. She felt his erection hard against her stomach. He smiled down at her, then it faded into a serious look.

Her heart quivered, as did her soul.

“What?” she asked fearing the worse. Was he going to screw this all up again? If he did, there was a good chance she would shoot him and dump his body in the Pacific.

“You know I love you, right?”

Her worries started to fade away as her heart filled with joy. “Yeah. Yeah, I do.”

“Then be mine.”

She blinked. “I am yours, Marcus.”

“No,” he said, reaching to open the bedside table drawer. He retrieved a little box. “I’ve been wanting to give this to you for weeks now, but, our families…”

He rolled his eyes. She knew exactly what he was saying without the words. Her parents and his mother had been completely in their business for the last couple of weeks. They hadn’t had a night together since his mother and his sisters had hit the island eleven days, fifteen hours, and thirty minutes ago. Not that she was counting or anything.

He slipped off her and settled on the mattress beside her. He propped himself up on his elbow, then he opened the box and her heart almost stopped. Set against the white satin lining was an engagement ring. It was white gold, her preference, with one solitaire diamond. Emeralds dotted the band on either side of the diamond. Her eyes started to sting, and she realized she was about to cry. She hated to cry, even happy tears.

“I used my grandmother’s diamond, then had it designed specifically for you.” She kept staring at it and he sighed. “Say something, Tammy.”

She looked up at him and her vision wavered. Dammit, she was going to cry. “It’s so beautiful.”
