I race from the job site to my driveway and then take a breathwhen I get to my front door, slowing myself down before entering the house. I enter quietly, kicking my shoes off and leaving them by door as I go in search of her.

I sense her before I see her. Her perfume carries throughout the house, and I find her curled up, with the laptop balanced on the arm of the couch. The lights are low, and she has candles are lit, a glass of wine next to her and she’s so enthralled with her typing; she doesn’t hear me enter.

I lean against the wall, taking her in. She’s gorgeous. Her dark hair is knotted up on top of her head. The strap from her tank is slipping down her tanned arm and her shorts exposing those thighs I love to have wrapped around my ears.

I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I need to figure it out and keep it. If I don’t get my shit together, I risk a lot more than just losing the girl of my dreams.

Pulling out my phone, I connect to the sound system in the house and turn on a little Florida Georgia Line. “Talk You Out Of It” floats across the air and when her head snaps up and her eyes connect with mine, my heart flutters.

Her smile spreads, and she immediately shuts the laptop and places it on the coffee table.

“Babe, no, keep going.”

She’s shaking her head and crawls to the end of the couch closest to me, beckoning me with her hand out. I’ve got no choice but to go to her, my body pulling to her like we have an invisible string tied between us.

“I’ve been waiting for you to get home. I already hit my word goal for the day. Anything else was just icing on the cake.”

Smiling at her enthusiasm, I bend down and kiss her, cupping her face in my hands. “I missed you,” I whisper against her lips.

“Mm. Me too.”

I breathe her in, knowing she’s what I want in my life forever.

“Which book boyfriend are we writing about tonight?”

She smiles. “He’s a small town guy. But a bit of a player.”

I trace the strap on her tank, running my fingers along her shoulder to her collarbone.

“So, he’s a Casanova, huh?” I waggle my brows and she laughs, then dips her head and kisses my hand that’s teasing her skin.

“Just the opposite. He talks a big game, but secretly only wants one woman.”

I circle around the arm of the couch and collapse onto it, pulling her into my lap. She straddles me, running her hands down my chest and back up over my shoulders, down to my biceps, squeezing as she goes.

“Sounds like a smart guy.”

“He is. But he doesn’t think he deserves a love like hers.”

I feather my fingers across the top of her tank and down her sides, brushing her breasts as I go. Her nipples are hard through her tank, and she shivers as I tickle along her ribs.

“Fuck, Ad. I love watching you.” I circle her nipple through the tank, running my forefinger over it before I lightly pinch it. She whimpers and my hips punch up, seeking her. “The way your body responds to me? God, you make me feel like I’m king of the world.”

She places her hands on my chest and bears down on my lap, leaning her head to the side. “That’s what my guy says. He knows she’s the one for him because she makes him feel like a king.”

“Lucky guy to have found his queen. Marry me?”

She snickers at my question, so used to my asking. “Do you want to give your queen a crown?”

Closing my eyes, I inhale deeply, pushing down my need to flip her over and take her hard. She knows what she’s doing.

What I did years ago, to cause myself more pain, has become the biggest part of her pleasure.

After I met Adley, I couldn’t see anyone else but her in my future. And after I got a night with her, you’d think it’d be forever burned into my mind, but the one person I’d been waiting for was one I couldn’t remember. All I had was a necklace and vague memories because my addiction was stronger than my love and I didn’t know I was in that deep until she was gone.

To punish myself, I got a Kings Crown piercing when I left rehab. It’s a more painful piercing than a basic dick ring and I wanted that. I wanted to remind myself that this pain would heal, but the pain of losing her never would, and I had a lot of work to do if I was going to get a second chance.

I also knew if I got her back, she’d fucking enjoy this crown every chance she got.
