She puts her hand over her mouth and starts sobbing again.

“I might be an emotional mess for the duration of this pregnancy.” Her breath hiccups, and she wraps her arms around my waist, laying her head on my chest. “Especially if you’re going to say the most incredible things like that.”

I hold her tight and eventually she leans back and looks up at me.

“I’m sorry I ever doubted that you would be anything less than the amazing man you are,” she says.

“I’m far from perfect, but I love you, and I want us to build a life…together. I should have been saying how I felt before now, so there was never any doubt in your mind. I’ll do better.”

She laughs. “You can’t possibly do any better, Wyatt Landmark.”

“Watch me,” I whisper against her lips, kissing her until she sways into me like I’m her anchor.

CHAPTERFORTY-FIVE

SLOGANS TO LIVE BY

MARLOW

Logan and Dakota aren’t at the table when we walk into the restaurant.

“They’re outside.” Wyatt points them out, and they look so cute, Logan holding Dakota so she can see better.

I wish Logan lived close or even that he would just visit more often, but I know better than to expect anything—he’s a wanderer through and through. It used to bother me, how okay he seemed to leave me behind, but being in Landmark and building a community of my own, I understand my brother a little better. He’s most at home on the water, doing what he loves, and he always makes time for us when he’s on land for any length of time.

Before we reach them, I grab Wyatt’s arm.

“Are you okay if we tell Dakota about us tonight? Not the baby yet, but about us,” I say quietly.

He puts his hand over mine and lifts his head to the sky. “ThankGod,” he whispers. And then louder, “Yes.”

When he looks at me, his eyes are dancing. His face is radiant despite the only light being the lamps flickering around the deck and the lights of Landmark Mountain below us.

“I didn’t know how much longer I could attempt to keep my hands to myself,” he says.

I laugh. “You haven’t really done that at all.”

He pretends to be outraged. “Have too! We hardly ever hold hands. I have to resort to friendly shoulder pats or an occasional lower back cop-a-feel.”

We’re both laughing now and he puts his arms around me, hugging me against him.

“You told me you loved me tonight,” he says softly. “Andthat you’re having my baby,” he croons in my ear. “The urge to be all over you is strong.”

I shiver and he holds me closer, rubbing my arms.

“Cold?”

I shake my head against him. “No, it’s just what you do to me.”

His chuckle is devious and I pull back, holding my hands up.

“Cool it with the BDE,” I practically pant with lust. “It’s making me want to haul you back in that restroom and tell those women to take a hike.”

“That’s a perfect idea.” His voice is hoarse as his hands span around my waist.

I love everything about the way he makes me feel.

He loves me. He wants to have this baby with me!I can hardly get over it.
