But no.

It’s even more pronounced when we step into the elevator and I pointedly step away from his hand and go to the opposite side. His eyes never leave mine, his expression amused, cocky, and filled with such promise. I shiver, running my hands up my arms to still the goose bumps. He steps closer, his hands lifting to replace mine and I hold up my hand, pausing him.

“One night, and we don’t let this affect our relationship at work or around our friends…your family…and you’re still the same with Dakota, no matter what.”

Hurt skitters across his face and then he nods and looks at me more intently.

“I’d never treat Dakota differently. I swear to you that will never happen. I love the relationship I’m building with your little girl and as long as you’ll allow me to be, I’m in her life to stay.”

Tears fill my eyes and I blink rapidly, trying to will them away.

He takes another step closer but doesn’t try to touch me this time.

“As far as one night goes, I want so much more than that. But I know you’ve been through a lot and I’ll be respectful of whatyouwant. I’ve proven I can stick to boundaries, and that will remain true. But make no mistake, Marlow…I want you and I don’t care who knows it.”

A whimper escapes my lips just as the elevator dings and he props his hand up high on one side of the door to keep it open as he looks at me.

“Do we understand one another?” he asks.

“I think so,” I answer, my voice barely above a whisper.

He smiles and my chest squeezes with a surge of wonder and fear and lust. Gathering my courage, I take a deep breath and step underneath his arm and off the elevator. He’s by my side in seconds, his hand on the small of my back as he leads me to his room. He opens the door and I walk inside, taking in the suite, the lights of the Strip brightening the living room.

“Beautiful,” I say, shy again. “Ours is too, but this is—”

He takes my elbow and turns me so my back is against the window, his face lowering until his lips touch mine. Our kiss starts out soft, slow, and so so sweet, our mouths moving in sync just like our bodies on the dance floor. And then it’s a rush of tongues and heat as our heads angle to take it deeper.

Kissing Wyatt feels familiar, like coming home, and yet, it’s wild and without abandon, something I’ve never once experienced before this moment.

We kiss and kiss and kiss, his hands on my face and mine in his hair for the longest time before our hands eventually start exploring. My body feels languid and drugged, heavy with want.

My lips are swollen when he drags his away from me, kissing down my neck.

“One night with you will never be enough for me,” he whispers across my skin.

I arch into him, and his palm cups my breast, his thumb brushing over my pebbled nipple before he pinches it between two fingers. I arch into him more, his lips coming up to catch my gasp.

I’m afraid one night with him will never be enough for me either, in fact I already know it won’t be, but I’m too scared to think about what that means right now. I don’t want to think about the future or about anything but what we’re doing right here, right now.

I reach behind me and start pulling down the zipper on my dress. He takes over, unzipping the rest, and when it’s all the way down, I tug the strap of my dress and let it fall to the ground.

He curses under his breath, his eyes sweeping down my body and leaving fiery sparks behind.

“You’re so beautiful, it physically hurts.” His voice is a low rasp as he rubs the middle of his chest like he’s trying to dissolve the pain.

He bends and picks me up, his mouth locking with mine as he carries me to the bedroom. He sets me on the edge of the bed, still leaning over to kiss me senseless. I scoot back to catch my breath and to get his clothes off of him.

As I’m unbuttoning his shirt, I lean in and kiss his bare chest. I glance up at him and he sighs, his hand coming up to sink into my hair.

“Did you bring condoms on this trip?” I ask.

He blinks and grins. “Once you left to get ready, I told the guys I had to run to my room but went to the gift shop instead and bought so many…it was wishful thinking on my part,” he clarifies. “But I wanted to be ready forwheneveryou might be too.”

I grin and tug his shirt out of his dress pants, unbuttoning the rest of the way before working on his pants. He hisses a breath as I unzip his pants, his steely hardness jumping at my touch. I wondered on the dance floor if he could possibly be as big as he felt, and so help me, yes. He’s wearing grey boxer briefs that are all kinds of obscene, the tip of him peeking out the top more evidence that he’s got alotto work with. Makes me breathless too, and I don’t know what I want to do with him first, the possibilities endless.

I reach out to touch him and he pauses my hand.

“Lie back,” he says. “There’s something I need to do first.”
