Because what do I do now?

What do I do when she’s ready to move on?

“Sutton?” Her lips pucker with her slight frown. “What’s wrong?”

Her hips pause their seductive roll and my dick twitches against her wetness, making her breath hitch.

“Nothing,” I lie.

I’m determined not to ruin this. I’m not going to grieve the ending while she still wants all of me.What the hell is wrong with you?

“Um…I didn’t say this last night because I wasn’t sure if it would freak you out…or maybe make you think I’m taking this more seriously than you want me to, but—” she pauses, and I frown.

“What? You can say anything.”

“I know. I just…I’m on the pill.” She lifts her shoulder. “You don’t have to do anything with that information, but—” Her lips lift in a shy grin. “I’ve never had sex without a condom. My tests have always been all clear, and…well, I just wanted you to know.”

My hands grip her hips and I rub her against me, making her gasp.

“I don’t make it a habit of having sex without condoms,” I tell her. “I did with one woman during a limited time, and that was Tracy. My tests are all clear too, I can show you a picture of my results if you’d like to see.”

“I trust you’re telling me the truth.”

I nod. “I appreciate that, but I’ll show you anyway,” I say, grabbing my phone to pull up a picture of my last test in a starred folder. “And in the future, you should make sure your partners show you as well.”

Her brows furrow in the center and she leans back, her hips still. She slides my hands off of her hips and climbs off of me, moving toward the bathroom.

“Felicity, wait. I?—”

She closes the door and I hear running water, the toilet flushing, running water again, and still, she doesn’t come out. Ten minutes go by, and I get up and knock on the door.

“Felicity, talk to me…”

“I’m going to take another shower and get ready for the day,” she says.

But I hear her sniffling.

“Sweetness. Talk to me first. I’ll let you get ready, but let me see you.”

“I don’t feel like talking,” her voice breaks.

I turn the knob and it’s not locked, so I walk in. Tears are running down her face. She grabs a towel and wraps it around her and I ease toward her, feeling so bad that I’ve made her cry.

I put my arms around her and hug her. She lays her head against my chest and my chest gets wet with her tears.

“I’m so sorry I upset you.”

She sniffles and wipes her face, leaving her head against me.

“It hurts that you didn’t take our night seriously,” she says, choking back more tears.

I pull back and lift her chin up to meet my eyes.

“I took our night very seriously.”

She shakes her head, tears spilling over her long lashes. Her eyes look like a swirling ocean, the depths of blues and greens colliding.

“If you had, you wouldn’t have brought up my future partners.” She leans back and slides her thumb over the words she wrote on my body. “I told you I want everything if everything meansyou. I meant that. I know you don’t want to hear that I want this to be something real. It’s only supposed to be fun, and I’ll try to keep it light after I have a good cry, thank you very much. But that doesn’t mean you should diminish my feelings or toss out future partners like we’re nothing.”
