SUTTON

I chuckle to myself as the noise in my house goes up by several decibels. It doesn’t surprise me at all that my entire family showed up. Hell, I should’ve expected it. Being the oldest, I can be a bit of a shit-stirrer with my siblings. They just make it so damn easy.

I’d say payback’s a bitch, but when the payback is a night with my family, you won’t find me complaining one bit. I don’t care how meddlesome they are, they’re my favorite people in the whole world.

And Felicity seems right at home.

Figures she would be since she’s close to the same age as Scarlett and Ruby…and not too far off from Sofie and Marlow either.

I have to remind my brothers of that when they huddle around me later, giving me not-so-subtle eyebrow lifts and nudges in my side.

“She’s great,” Wyatt starts.

“I see you picked the beautiful one,” Theo says under his breath. He was over here one day when I showed him the long list of people I was considering.

“Don’t make it gross,” I snap.

He looks wounded for a second and then laughs, holding up his hands. “I’m just proud you didn’tnotpick her for that reason. Knowing you, that seems more like something you’d do,” he says.

“Hell, yeah, you would,” Wyatt agrees, laughing. “She fits right in.”

“Get your mind out of the gutter, you guys. She’s younger than Scarlett,” I hiss between my teeth.

“Owen’s crazy about her already,” Callum says.

I glare at him. “I expect it out of them, not you too.”

He lifts a shoulder, smirking.Bastard.

“Will she be taking you to any games?” Jamison asks, grinning.

Jamison’s brother is Zac Ledger, the GOAT of football, but I’ve even heard Zac say that Weston Shaw is the most talented player he’s seen in a long time.

“It has come up,” I say, relenting to a small smile then. “Weston helped her move in yesterday. Nice guy. Invited Owen and me to a game.”

“That’s more like it. It won’t hurt you to have a little fun,” Wyatt says.

“There will be nofunof the variety your dirty minds are thinking,” I say, pointing at each one of them. “She’s here to do a job and was the best qualified for it. Please don’t make this weird.”

“I was actually just teasing when I started,” Wyatt says, pointing back at me, “but then the way you got defensive so quickly makes me think…” He juts his lips out and lifts his hands up and down like he’s weighing something.

I give him enough of a shove that he stumbles back and he just laughs. I glance over his shoulder at the women across the room and he smirks.

“They’re not hearing any of this, don’t worry,” he says. “Owen is also out of earshot.”

“You’re being ridiculous,” I grumble. “And I’m being defensive because I knew you’d take one look at her and go there.”

“You’re making us sound skeevy, and we’re not,” Wyatt argues. “We’re just ready to see you happy too, and we know better than anyone that it takes a lot for you to trust anyone with Owen. He’s eight years old and this is the first time you’ve hired someone. So, I’d say she’s already been thoroughly vetted and passed inspection.” He laughs again when I glare at him.

“Sorry, brother,” Theo says sheepishly. He’s the tenderheart of the family and I squeeze his shoulder, letting him know we’re fine.

I’m fine with all of them, but I want them to shut their fucking mouths and not make this a thing.

“You know you’d be doing the same thing if the roles were reversed. Youhavedone the same thing to all of us,” Wyatt says, laughing.

He’s right about that.

“And what would be the harm if youwereinterested in something with her?” he whispers.
