I lean my head back and turn to look at her. “Thanks for everything this week. It should be much calmer when we get home. We wrapped everything up with the case, and next week will be way different. I think I’ll be off by the time Owen gets off of school…maybe every day.”

“That’s great. I’ve missed you.” Her eyes fly to Jamison and Pappy, but they’re engrossed in their conversation.

“I’ve missed you so fucking much,” I tell her.

Her eyes flare with heat and I want to kiss her so bad I can taste it.

Tonight, I plan on making up for the time we’ve lost this week. We’ll be flying home late tomorrow night, but I’m going to make our time together count.

Felicity is excited and a little nervous, but we talk on the whole flight, and by the time we land in Boston, she’s relaxed and I think a little giddy to be on this trip.

Jamison and Pappy invite us to dinner with their family, but Felicity and I had already agreed that we’d have dinner together in Boston before going to the hotel near Gillette Stadium.

“I think our suite at the stadium is close to yours,” Jamison says. “Stop by and say hello, or text us and we will.”

“Felicity is dying to meet Zac and Autumn,” I say, grinning when Felicity’s eyes widen.

“You’re not supposed to tell him that!” she says.

“Well, it’s true, isn’t it?”

“Definitely come by our suite then,” Jamison says, laughing. “Summer and Liam will be there too.”

Felicity squeaks. “I don’t even want to admit how obsessed I am with the two of them. I’ve seen every movie Liam has ever made and I’m a huge fan of Summer’s work.”

“They’re the sweetest people,” Pappy says. “My great-granddaughter Ivy will be there too. She’s a hoot.”

“Shit, I forgot to have you let Ivy know Owen wouldn’t be coming after all,” I say.

“I’ll prepare her for it tonight, but I’m sure she’ll still give you some grief about it tomorrow.” Jamison chuckles. “Maybe it’ll get them to Landmark Mountain soon though.” He rubs his chin, looking at Pappy. “These puppies might even bring the whole family to Landmark Mountain.”

Pappy points at him. “You’re onto something. I think you’re right.”

We say goodbye and as fun as their company was, I instantly feel lighter when Felicity and I are alone. It’s a constant battle to watch myself when we’re out in public. A battle that gets increasingly harder. I see her catching herself about to touch me or stopping herself from whispering something to me, and I remind myself of why it’s best that we keep this between us.

Truth be told, the reasons are becoming fuzzier by the day.

“Hi,” I say when it’s just us.

She grins at me. “Hi. I can’t believe we’re on a trip together.”

“I can already tell I’m not going to get my fill of you.”

She lifts a shoulder coyly. “Well, you do get to take me home too, so there’s that.”

I smirk, my mind already on what I’m going to do to her the second we’re behind closed doors.

We catch an Uber and make our reservation a few minutes ahead of schedule. Felicity stops in the restroom and takes my breath away when she walks out a few minutes later in a little black dress.

“Felicity.” My voice is gravelly. “You look stunning.”

“Thank you,” she says, her lips quirking up with her smile.

A clerk tucks our carry-on bags in the coat closet and gives us a tag to pick them up after dinner. We’re seated in front of a window overlooking the Bay.

“This is so pretty,” Felicity says.

The waiter gives us our menus and says he’ll be back shortly.
