Seraphina leaps up and runs over to me.
“Antonio, what happened?”
I stare at her.

Seraphina
Antonio stands in thehotel's doorway room, covered in blood. His expression is terrifying.
I rush over to him and grab his waist. “Antonio, what happened?” I say, anxiety pushing my body apart.
“Are you hurt?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know? Whose blood is this?”
He stares at me.
“Antonio,” I shout.
“It’s Kalo’s blood. Kalo is dead.”
“Oh no, Antonio, I'm so sorry.”
I wrap my arms around him and him. I hold him and try to soak his pain into my body. I try to take it away from him. I try to make him feel alright.
He hardly moves at all. I step back, taking his hand.
“Come, let me take care of you.”
He follows me without thought or words.
I take him to the shower and undress him. I run my hands over his body and check to see if he is hurt. On his back, there is a small puncture, but it's not bleeding too much. The rest of his body is covered in blood, but it's not his.
I push him into the shower, beneath the warm water, and step in naked with him.
I carefully cleanse him, gently caressing the smooth, sudsy cloth over his form, cleansing the blood, acknowledging his emotional turmoil.
“Antonio?” I whisper as the water runs off his body clear, not tainted with Kalo’s blood.
“Do you want to stay in the water a little longer?”
He shakes his head.
I lean around him and switch it off. Then, take his hand and lead him out of the shower. I stand on my tiptoes to dry him, then wrap the surrounding towel.
“I need to find a medical kit. Your back is bleeding a little.”
“It’s a bullet wound. You need to get the bullet out.”
“Oh.” My stomach twists. I have never done that before, but I stay calm because that is what he needs right now.
I scratch around in the bathroom cabinet until I find the medical kit. I pull it out and find a pair of long tweezers. “Will these work?” I ask.
“Yes, you are going to dig around in there until you find it.”
