His phone buzzed in his back pocket, startling him. He pulled away from Mason and glanced down at the screen. A text from Gray.Aced it.

He laughed and showed Mason. “I guess the cake will be for celebrating, huh?”

“Yep.”

Jack noted the time on his phone. It was later than he’d thought. “You did a good job of distracting me.”

Mason grinned. “Thank you.”

“Let’s get ready for a celebration.”

The celebration started with cake, proceeded to steak on the grill and beer, and then lots and lots of hot, pounding sex. Jack couldn’t remember all the positions they tried, but he knew he’d been fucked by both his lovers in numerous ways.

The next day, he managed to walk their beat without hobbling too much, though he probably looked quite bowlegged. He only complained about his aching ass when Gray insisted they have lunch at a taco shop with hard wooden benches for seats. “You did this on purpose.”

Gray chuckled. “Maybe.”

“Fuck you,” he said, flipping Gray off.

Gray glanced over his shoulder toward the restroom.

“Gray,” Jack used a warning tone.

“You sure?” he raised his brow.

Jack frowned at him. “What has got into you today?”

“You, or rather, you’re what I’d like to get into.”

Jack glanced around, making sure no one had heard. “There’s not enough room in these damn uniform pants for me to deal with you like this.”

Gray grinned. “What if I cuffed you to this booth and made you come while everyone watched?”

“Oh my fucking God. Stop that.”

Gray laughed, looking more relaxed than Jack had seen him in a long time. Seeing Gray so happy almost made him willing to head for the restroom and fulfill Gray’s fantasy. He had no doubt Gray would follow him. Whether he’d really go through with fucking him there rather than just teasing him, Jack didn’t know.

Find out, a wicked voice inside him whispered. Jack was confident Gray would get the promotion he wanted. They shouldn’t risk ruining his chances by getting caught fucking in a taco shop bathroom while on duty.

“Come on,” he said, sliding to the edge of the booth and willing his hard-on to subside.

“I’d like to.” Gray winked at him.

“Gray, seriously, what’s up?”

“Did you notice that I wasn’t at morning briefing?”

Jack nodded. “Yeah, I thought you were talking to O’Connell about the B&E case.”

He shook his head. “I was talking to Thornton about the promotion.”

Jack sucked in his breath. “Did he…? Did you…?”

Gray nodded.

Jack’s heart slammed against his chest. This was really going to happen. Gray was going to be a detective, and Jack would get a new partner. Fear threatened to supersede his excitement, but when he saw the look of joy on Gray’s face, he couldn’t help but be happy for him, happier than he’d thought he could be.

“When does Mason get home tonight?” Jack asked, looking at the clock on the restaurant wall. They needed to plan a major celebration.
