Bob grinned, switched on the music, and danced to the front. “Paint we shall.”

Daniel took another bite of his delicious souffle as he glanced at Suzy. She looked carefree and happy, and his heart twisted, wanting this to be real.

“What?” she said.

“You have a bit of paint on your nose.”

“Can you please get it off?”

He dipped his napkin in water and rubbed the pink smudge off her delicate nose. “Your painting is beautiful.”

He wanted to take her in his arms. Tonight, they played the part of a loving couple well, almost too well. For the past two hours, he’d forgotten everything except how he felt with her.

Suzy had also saved the night for six other couples, and the quirky love guides were getting along as if their scuffle never happened.

“Your is not so bad,” she said.

“Right, it looks like a pink, purple mess. You can have the canvas and paint over it if you want.”

“Never! It’s abstract. I love it.”

He chuckled. “It’s yours then.”

“I’ll cherish it.” She stepped closer to him. “Just like this night, thanks for going along with my scheme.”

He brushed a piece of hair out of her face. “Sure, we couldn’t have the love guides upset now, could we?”

Her expression melted into a curvy smile.

He tugged her close. “Can I kiss you?”

“We already saved the night,” she whispered, staring into his eyes, “we can stop pretending, but one more kiss would certainly make our love guides happy.”

“It would,” he murmured, tilting her chin upward.

His lips descended upon hers in a heated blaze of passion. She pulled him closer until their breathing became one. Sensations he’d never felt before tumbled inside, physically and emotionallydrawing him closer to her. This little headache of his was becoming so much more.

“Now, now,” Beth said, tapping his shoulder. “Save that for when you two leave.”

They pulled away reluctantly, each longing for more.

Bob tapped his glass. “One more toast to the happy couples and your brilliant paintings. Your love guides, Beth and me, wish you the best. Please leave us a five-star review, and come back and paint with us like you make love.”

“Until we meet again,” Beth chimed in. “Take care, our new friends, and don’t forget the review.”

After leaving a sizable tip and shaking the love guides' hands, the couples took their paintings and left hand in hand.

Suzy and Daniel were the last to leave.

Beth hugged Suzy. “Thanks for going along with Vivian’s scheme,” she whispered in her ear. “I told her it was risky, but it all worked out. I think she’s right about the two of you.”

“What do you mean?” Suzy asked.

“You’re good for each other. Just like Bob and me.” Beth stepped back. “Now, you two come back anytime. Twenty percent discount.”

“Twenty percent, Beth,” Bob bellowed, “make that thirty. These two sure know how to have fun.”
