“I do.”

“So just let him love you.” Muse smiled again and stretched her hand to squeeze mine. “Welcome to the family.”

The elevator doors opened with a discreet sound and Roman, along with the others, walked into the living room. Gino walked to sit behind his wife with his hand in his pockets. I thought it was sweet how he didn’t touch her, but just wanted to be close and look over Muse. Catherinelle ran across the room and jumped in Hugo’s arms like was coming home from war after a year. Pretty much everyone went and found their person.

And then there was Roman standing alone in the middle of the room, in his polished suit, looking at me. I always found him breathtakingly beautiful. His dark hair, the way the sharp edge of his jaw contrasted with the softness of his chocolate-glazed eyes. He was the man who fucked me like a beast and then worshiped me with the gentlest touches. The father of my kid. The one who wanted to protect me.

I got up from my seat and walked to Roman, pulling him down into a kiss.

“Hello, amore.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“And I’m not afraid to be with you.”

“I sure hope not because I’m not letting you go.”

“I just wanted you to know, Roman. I love you and everyone here is very nice.”

“I told you.” He kissed me again and the feeling of his lips on mine was magnetic. I knew we should stop, but I just couldn’t. I don’t know for how long we kissed, but I heard Gino clearing his throat in the background.

“Stefani, how about you save some appetite for brunch.”

“Mind your own damn business, don. I’m busy.”

And he kissed me again like our lives depended on it.
