Too bad. He made the wrong fucking decision.

With one hand I grabbed the pen, clicked it open, and stuck it in Cramer’s neck. I hit him with such force, the skin cracked under the brutality of my move and blood started gushing out of his carotid. It wasn’t a lucky hit; I knew exactly what I was doing. It was the easiest way to kill someone when a bullet wasn’t involved. I sat there unmoved, watching the life draining from his eyes while he was drowning in his own blood, like a slaughtered pig. I’d told him not to push me. I could have offered him a more civil departure.

It wasn’t the first time I’ve had to stain my hands to see a job done and it probably won’t be the last, but this one was different. I respected the lives I took, but now, I couldn’t care fucking less that Vincent Cramer was gone. This would keep my woman alive.

“Ignazio.”

“You made a fucking mess, Roman.” He shook his head, finally breaking his vow of silence.

“Call your guys and tell them to come fast. I’m no doctor, but I’m sure he will expire soon.”

“Already on the move. I texted the warden and he is meeting the surgeons at the gate right now. Just so you know, he wants an extra fifty thousand because you finished him here.”

“Done. Tell him to follow us to the car and he’ll be paid.”

“We need to get out of here. The surgeons need to take his body to the nursery in a sterile room. We have a plane waiting for us to go back to New York?”

“What about the cargo?”

“It will follow us. Roman, I got you. I arranged everything. We have people on LaGuardia that will let them pass without going through any controls.”

I nodded, but my face remained expressionless. Ignazio was fine; it was time to get the fuck out of here, but before walking away, I grabbed the envelope that was still unopened on the table.

“One more thing, Ignazio.”

“Sure.”

“Find his family and tell them to look for me. I have some debts to pay.”

“Will do.”

“Thank you. I owe you a life and a half for what you did for me tonight.”

“We’re famiglia, Stefani. You owe me nothing.”

It was time to go back to my Salva and tell her I did it. I found her life and the only thing I’ve asked was that she’d spend it with me.
