“Don’t drag yourself into something dangerous, Enzo. My father is a man with a short temper.”

What the fuck did Alexei Popov do to terrorize the women in his life like this? He was a fucking joke, but it seemed that Katja and Ludmila didn’t see him like it. They feared him and what he could do. I knew damn well not to underestimate my opponent, but I couldn’t see Popov as a threat, not when he was piss drunk half of the time, sweaty, and tiptoeing around my father. If Alexei Popov was dangerous to someone, it became clear it was women. He preyed upon them and exploited their weakness like a coward.

“Trust me, Katja, I can take care of myself, and if you ever need me, I can take care of you too. I don’t want to get you involved in this shit, trust me, but I might need to.”

“If it comes to it, you can count on me, Enzo. I would much rather not have you doing business with my father. He’s not trustworthy.”

“What do you mean?”

“Oh, don’t worry, he would never dare to screw with your family. I’ve heard Dad talking about them, and he really wants to be on their good side, so for now he will try to please you.” I could hear a but coming. “You have to watch him after he earns that trust. Dad it’s the kind of man that only looks out for himself, so don’t let your guard down around him.”

“Yes, ma’am. Thank you for the warning.”

“Can we talk about something else?”

We moved on, and I let Katja talk my ear off and describe a chick flick she watched the other night. She went into great detail, and I made a note in my head to never let Katja pick the movie for us to watch. She had a lot of talents, but she sure as hell didn’t have good taste in films.

When we got to dessert, I passed – the only sweet taste I craved in my mouth was Ludmila’s pussy – but Katja ordered a piece of chocolate cake that was bigger than her head. She almost had to wrestle with it.

“Come on, try it,” she said.

“Nah, I’m good.”

She took a spoonful and brought it to my lips.

“One bite, for me. It’s very good.”

“Fine.” I surrendered to the hypercaloric piece of cake and let Katja feed me from her spoon like I was a baby bird.

“See? It’s good.”

“It’s alright, but I’ve had better.”

“Better than this chocolate extravaganza?”

“My Aunt Salvatrice has a bakery. The shit she bakes is like crack. This cake wouldn’t stand a chance.”

“Why is this the first time I’ve heard that, and why haven’t you taken me by now?”

“I didn’t know you were so big on sweets?”

“Are you joking? I could run on just sugar for the rest of my life. Enzo, you have to promise me you’ll take me to your aunt’s place.” Damn, she was really serious about it.

“I guess I could. Salva would love to feed you. Ever since her daughter left for college, she’s looking for new victims to taste her goods.”

“Ah, please let it be me!” Katja clapped her hands like child.

After that I paid the bill. We started walking back to the car, but she was moving slowly. I guess all that chocolate finally caught up with her.

“Are you ok, Kat?”

“Yeah, I was just thinking about your family. You’re lucky, you know? Everyone is so nice. I loved spending time with your mom the other night.” Right, on her mission to convince Alexei I was into her, Katja almost cuddled with my mother.

“My mom is amazing, that’s true.”

“That’s right and you want to know a secret? She told me she liked me.”

“I see.” I responded to be polite. The truth was mom saw the good in everybody, and Katja was a nice girl, so it probably didn’t mean that much, but I didn’t want to sound like jerk.
