“We do,” Las agrees.

And then silence.

I study each of them and try not to get distracted by their beauty. Logan is looking at his feet and slides his hands off the counter but stays close. I don’t think they are purposely being shady; they honestly don’t know how to say what they want.

Stephanie has told me many things about shifters and clues about their behavior. They move differently; there is an awareness in their bodies. Logan moved as if he was weighing every step at the beginning, but then he was in front of me quicker than should have been possible. Their eyes are another clue; eyes don’t change color like theirs did. Not to mention the growl Logan let out that did exciting things to my girly bits.

“Are you shifters?” I blurt out. That gets their complete attention.

“Why would you ask that?” Lucas asks cautiously.

They are. If I would have asked a human the same question, it would be immediately followed by a scoff, denial, and a question about my sanity. “It’s alright. My best friend is a bear shifter. I have known of your world for years now. Don’t worry; it doesn’t freak me out.”

“You know?” Las asks.

“Yep,” I confirm. Lucas and Las move closer.

“Do you know what a mate is?” Lucas asks.

“Yes, she told me about that, too. She isn’t mated yet, but she wants to be. I had a feeling that Ryker was a vampire. I asked about his mate, and he got really cautious. I backtracked then because who wants to have a vampire angry at them? It’s not like I hang out with them or even recall meeting one. Stephanie has told me about all the different types of shifters, how they mate, and what to be careful of. Because I am human. Of course, you probably know that. Do you smell everything? I don’t know how I would feel about it. Do you ever get sick of smelling everything?” I grind to a halt. My mouth always runs away from me. “What was the question?” I can’t focus when all three of them close in on me.

“Do you know what a mate is?” Logan reminds me. “Apparently, you do.”

“Oh, sorry.”

“Why are you sorry?” Lucas asks.

“I tend to say what’s on my mind.” I bite my lip.

“An admirable trait,” Las says.

“You think so?” I wrinkle my nose. No one has ever said that to me.

“You are our mate,” Logan says, and we all look at him.

“That’s one way to go,” Lucas says dryly.

“So, you are saying I would be mated to…” I wave my hand.

“Lion shifters,” they all say.

“To lion shifters, forever.”

“Yes,” they confirm.

I push away from the counter, slide away from Logan, and walk behind it, keeping my back to them. “If what I know is correct, you would be devoted to me. We would have a relationship, with me at the center. You couldn’t cheat and wouldn’t want to. If I denied you, you would never be able to have another mate. I would have three hot, sexy men to have sex with, have fun with, and perhaps love,” I turn. “Forever.”

“Yes,” Las says.

I tap my lips. “Interesting,” I mutter. My eyes move from one to the other. I can tell that they don’t know what to do with me. “You would want to bite me?”

“We would,” Logan grunts.

“Would I turn into a lion?”

“Yes,” Lucas answers.

“Huh…” My mind goes wild. Do I want this? Is it somewhat scary?
