“Shit, I missed you too.” She sniffles and pushes back. “Are you okay?”

“I am.” I grin. “I am now. We found our mate.” Everything hits me at once, and I’m surprised at the tears gathering. “Las and Lucas found me and then Breeane burst into our lives. We love her. She is beautiful and has an even bigger heart than you do. We completed the bond last night and she hasn’t woken yet.” I step back and my hands go to my head. “Fuck, it’s torture. Watching her as if she is sleeping, but we know she is probably in pain. She’s everything.”

“I know, Logan,” she says softly.

“No, Mom.” I raise my hands off my head. “I mean, everything,” I stress, widening them.

“I understand.” She reaches for my suspended arms. “We know what she means to all of you and we are here. Whatever you need. Whatever she needs. We already love her.” I blink rapidly as I stare into her compassionate eyes. “She will be fine.”

“She needs a mom.” I look up. “And a dad. She didn’t have an easy time with hers. Take it easy with her though. I don’t want her to be overwhelmed with all the love. Plus, she isn’t used to parents that are so involved.”

“We will tread carefully,” Dad says. “We will take it day by day.”

“Thank you.” Mom turns sideways and I take the cue to walk to my dad. “Dad.” I hold out my hand, which he swats away.

“Fuck that,” he growls and grabs my head and pulls. I hit him hard and our arms band around each other. “Happy to see your face.”

“Do you have food in the house?” Mom asks once we release each other.

“Lucas was cooking,” Las says and Mom's eyes bulge.

“You can’t let that girl eat anything he cooks,” she whispers furiously. “Or anything you cook.” She points at me.

“We weren’t going to,” Las says. “I was going to make something but then I smelled my parents who weren’t supposed to be here yet.” He glares at Dad.

Dad shrugs. “You try to stop her.”

Mom scoffs. “I’m going to cook. If you don’t have something I need, your dad will go to the store. You shouldn’t leave your mate.” She walks into the kitchen with determination.

“Do you have any beer?” Dad asks.

“You will not drink when you will have to drive into town,” Mom scolds.

“Woman,” Dad starts as he follows her. “You can’t tell me what to do.”

Las and I share a grin. “She can,” he says.

“Just like Breeane will be able to do to us,” I say. “Even you,” I snort.

“She can do whatever the fuck she wants, as long as she wakes soon.” We sober quickly as we both look up the stairs.

“I don’t want her to be in pain,” I say quietly.

“She’s strong enough to fight through it,” he says firmly.

“I know,” I say just as firmly.

I pray we are right and she comes back to us soon. If something goes wrong, we will never be the same without her.

Chapter Thirty

Breeane

Iwake up on all fours when the pain suddenly stops, and a scream suddenly cuts off. My eyes are squeezed shut and the stillness of the room causes me to fear opening them. I push with my hands, sit on my ankles, and slowly open my eyes. I blink several times to clear them, from either the tears or the fog that filled them.

The room is white, nothing but white as far as I can see. That is startling enough, but what comes next blows me away. This has to be a dream.

Someone that has my body and face appears out of nothing, walking towards me, I have to believe I’m hallucinating.
