Chapter Nineteen

Lucas

Our girl really wants to be spanked.

I was pissed that we missed Logan’s call. When it was just the three of us, we didn’t need to pay attention to our phones. It’s also a hazard to answer when we are working. Now, we have Breeane to think about.

I was relieved that it wasn’t anything serious. Needing new clothes because my brother ripped them in half is hilarious.

I try to contain my humor as I watch Breeane squirm in her chair. She was adorable as she stuttered and made excuses. She demanded that we sit on the porch when she told us her news. She thinks we are going to punish her for keeping it from us for a few hours. If she can’t keep a secret from us for longer than that, we are going to have an easy life with her. If she agrees to be ours permanently.

I don’t want to think about our reaction if she walks away.

I can smell Logan all over her. What would freak out a human brings me nothing but contentment. We are one more step closer to keeping her by our side forever.

“So, your brother knows where you are,” I pause, holding up a finger. “Which also means that your parents probably will find out, too.”

“Yes,” she whispers. Her beautiful eyes are wide.

All of us are standing around her, surrounding her. She sits meekly. I look at my brothers. Las has his hand over his mouth; his eyes are narrowed, but there is a smile hidden. Logan is rocking back on his heels, his arms crossed, trying to keep a straight face.

“Are you scared of them?” I ask. We are taking it seriously, but they are human.

“No?”

“That’s a question,” Las states.

“I’m not scared of my mom. She’s more of a pain in the ass. She will come here and bitch and moan. She’ll take one look at all of you and be the sweetest person in the world while her brain is thinking of ways to stick her hands in your pockets,” she sighs. “My dad will probably be drunk and won’t give a shit. He’ll be mad that she dragged him here.” She wrings her hands. “I am not thrilled at the prospect of seeing them again.” She crosses her legs and cups her hands over her knees. “My brother is the wild card. He’s never been violent towards me, but money does strange things to people, especially when that person is already unstable. I’m nervous. I have a bad feeling about him and what he could lead here.”

“Stephanie couldn’t say what her cousins actually revealed?” Logan asks.

“Unfortunately, no.”

“Basically, we know nothing. They might come here and might not,” I conclude.

She lifts a shoulder. “Yeah, but we will have to deal with them if they do. I am tired of dealing with them. I just want to be left alone.”

“Are you afraid that we won’t want to help you?” Las asks, losing the smile.

“Maybe,” she confesses.

“Slugger,” I say. “You have heard all the things we have gone through. Do you think we don’t want to or can’t?”

“My brother could be dangerous,” she says instead of answering.

“So can we,” I growl.

“What if you don’t want to be tied to a girl with such a shitty family?” she cries, waving her arm.

“We don’t want to be with your family,” Logan says.

“All we want is you,” I say. “It will not matter what they are like or what they do. You are what matters.”

“Really?”

“Really,” we all say at the same time.

“Good.” She nods. “So what do we do?”
