With a warm smile, Ivy seemed just as pleased. “I am, too. But enough about Sam and the others. You have to tell me everything that happened since you’ve been here.”

With pleasure, I filled her in on everything. From the ceremony to bonding with Levi and beginning to find my stride in the pack. I told her about everyone she needed to meet, including Nati, and how I couldn’t wait to see her face at gatherings and during events.

While we talked and slowly unpacked her things, it felt like no time had passed, and our friendship was as strong as ever. I was beyond grateful for her, and after we parted ways for the day, I couldn’t help but think back to the other night when I had spoken to Levi about missing Ivy.

She had mentioned how he willingly welcomed her to the pack, but I had the suspicion that he had approached her first. Curious, I kept the thought in mind as I walked home, feeling lighter than the air itself.

Thankfully, Levi was already home and in the kitchen, standing over whatever he planned to prepare when I walked in. His brows lifted with interest.

“You’re glowing. You must’ve had a good day.”

Unable to fight back my smile, I approached him and leaned against the island counter between us. “Did you have anything to do with bringing Ivy into the pack?”

He tried to keep up his innocent facade, but when it finally crumbled, his smile made me feel warm all over.

Sheepishly, he continued to cut through the red meat on the cutting board. “I may have had a hand in convincing her to join us.”

As amusing as his act was, I couldn’t ignore how my heart squeezed at the thought. “You did that for me?”

He nodded, looking pleased with himself. “I saw how worried you were about her being there, and I knew I had to do something about it.”

I never thought I’d be so moved by a gesture from Levi Ramos, but I was immediately corrected. It seemed he did care and was trying his best to make things work between us.

He was listening to me, and it made me feel like my thoughts and concerns mattered for one of the first times ever.

Those heavy emotions pricked at the corner of my eyes again, and I smiled at him. “I’d say you didn’t have to, but I’m glad you did. It was so nice to see her again.”

Standing in the kitchen together, there was no mistaking how the air around us seemed to bloom with tension. As he looked down at me, I realized I could never resist his beautiful features again. Thank the Goddess, things were better between us because it meant we didn’t need to hold back.

Heart light and filled with joy, I didn’t have the mind to stop myself from moving closer and cutting the space between us.

I leaned forward on my tip-toes and brushed my lips against his, and Levi immediately relaxed into the touch, placing a hand against my waist.

Eyes closed, I let myself savor that tender kiss as if it were my last while I soaked in his comforting warmth. The affection sparked pleasure as it moved through me, and that tether between us tightened as the contact lingered. My wolf seemed satisfied by it, if not longing for more, and I couldn’t help but feel the same way.

As Levi hooked a finger beneath my chin to tilt my head up, he deepened the kiss and made a complete mess of my mind. I had no desire to stop him.

Chapter 16 - Jane

While it wasn't unusual for me to wake up in an empty bed because Levi got up early for work, it was getting harder to resist the desire to have him there. I tried to dispel the slight disappointment, aware that dwelling on it would only aggravate my inner wolf.

But to my left on the nightstand, a small note from Levi was there to greet me. It read:

‘I’ll be swamped with work until later tonight. The pack is to go to you with concerns. I’ll be thinking of you.’

I practically swooned at the latter part of the note, but the prospect of being left to lead also made me nervous. I didn’t entirely know what he meant, and given that being a Luna was new to me, I didn’t know what to expect.

Still, I got up, walked through the empty house, and took my time appreciating my surroundings. Even if Levi didn't spend a lot of time at home, it seemed he had an eye for style, and whether it was bought or a new build, he certainly chose well.

Before I could feel too lonely in the house, the doorbell rang, and I was quick to answer it. I opened the door and found Nati on the other side with a kind smile.

"Good morning," she said, wearing an olive-green dress that billowed in the wind.

"Morning," I returned, thinking back to the note despite how lost I felt about it. "Do you need anything, Nati?"

"I actually ran into Levi in town while he was on a quick coffee run, and he told me about the note he left. He realized he wasn’t as clear as he could’ve been and was too busy to explain it, so he asked me to clarify things a bit,” she said diligently.

"He said the others were to come to me. What does that mean?" I asked, completely unaware of what that would entail. I didn’t know the first thing about solving pack-related conflicts.
