Leo opens it with a smile on his face that grows wider as he notices the little fluff ball in my arms.

“Oh, my goodness, who is this little cutie?” he asks, taking her from me.

“This is Pandora,” I say with a tear forming in my eye. “We all agreed she would be the perfect addition to the house.”

“She is amazing, just like her namesake,” Leo boasts. “What did I do for you all to be so kind to me?”

“Rav already told you, you’re family. That’s all the explanation you need,” Jayce tells him as he claps him on the shoulder. “You saved our asses more than once and it’s nice to know we have neighbors who don’t want to kill us.”

“Where do you want all of this?” Eli grunts.

“Oh sorry, I got lost in these sweet blue eyes. Just inside the door is fine. This cuddly girl is going to be inside with me,” he tells us.

Eli and Lucien dump all the goodies and we tell Pandora and Leo goodbye.

It is a little walk for us back to our house but we enjoy the breeze. Everything feels so much lighter in these woods now and it’s starting to truly feel like home.

“I think that went well,” Lucien says as he breaks the awkward silence.

“I think we have a great set of new neighbors,” I agree.

Even though we’ve finished this case, I know our future will hold plenty of spooky investigations. For now, I’m happy to spend time with my guys and find a new normal. We earned it.

THE END.
