“You want me to fuck two strangers?” My voice is high-pitched, but my heart shatters into a million fragments as the weight of his betrayal settles upon me.

Since the day he rescued me, I had always believed in us, but now he has completely shattered my trust.

How could he have made the deal without consulting me? Without considering the consequences for both of us. “I’m the one who wants to betray them. Run away with their money.”

Tears well up in my eyes again, but this time they are not tears of anguish; they are tears of anger and disappointment. “You’re also the one who refuses to fuck me,” I say through gritted teeth.

Jake tries to reach out for me, but I step away.

“I need some space.”

“Ella.” His voice is a loud growl as he tries to control the situation. It’s the most alpha he has ever sounded.

My feet falter.

Maybe he’ll be no different from Professor Baldwin in the end. And me... I’ll be the little omega who’ll end up without a choice.

Like when I was kidnapped.

My finger strokes over the scar on my wrist and I shiver, remembering the way my hero kissed away the blood as he rescued me.

“I’m going to work,” I say, grabbing my car keys and striding to the front door.

“Don’t you dare leave until we’ve talked!”

I spin around and point my finger in his direction. “Talk about what, exactly?”

“The offer.”

“The offer is mine to consider. Not yours!” I scream. “But you’ve already considered it, haven’t you? You’re here to coerce me into accepting.”

“Ella,” he warns. “You know that’s not true.”

I can feel the sting of tears as they roll down my cheeks. “I thought you wanted me Jake but you don’t want me. You want whatever they’re offering.”

“Where are you going?”

I shake my head as I open the door. “I’m going to work. I need some space to decide what I’m doing.”

“Ella,” he growls. “It’s a good offer.”

“You want me to fuck other alphas?” I yell. “You’re not my alpha.”

I don’t look at him again as I slam the door behind me.

Chapter 9

Ella

With a quick, hard swipe, I run the cloth over the bar to soak up the spilled beer.

I hate this job, but I need it to live. And what I earn from this job helps to pay the bills.

Five million dollars, though.

I’d never have to scrub these floors of puke ever again.

The thought of the money swirls in my mind as I continue my night. Pouring drinks, cleaning tables, taking away glasses.
