I let a small grin tip my lips.

“That’s one of the things I love about you.”

She looked taken aback.

“My miserliness?”

I chuffed a laugh then pulled her into my arms, moving us out of the way as the door opened and another couple came out, giving us a strange look.

“One of many,” I admitted, which made her shake her head with strained patience.

Taking her hand, I pulled her in and went right up to the front desk.

“A suite,” I asked the lady there, tapping at a screen in front of her. “For two nights.”

“We’ve got a two bedroom suite, or a king studio,” she told me, smiling but looking dead behind her eyes.

It must suck to work in a job you hated that much.

“King studio,” I told her. “Oceanfront views?”

She nodded and typed more things into the computer.

“We don’t need a suite,” Freya hissed beside me. “The only thing we’ll use in there is the bed, anyway!”

I ignored her, handing over my debit card to the staff who ran it and slipped over a multi-page receipt, explaining the fees and costs.

I scrawled my name across the paper, and handed over my ID at her request.

A few minutes later, I had the keys to the door and a receipt for our almost two thousand dollar room for our two day duration.

“That’s just plain excessive,” Freya mumbled. “I mean, thank you, but totally unnecessary.”

“Stop worrying about money. I want to spoil you. That’s one of the only benefits to being with an older man.”

“Besides your vibrant personality?” she deadpanned.

I let out another chuffing laugh and shoved her gently toward the elevators, which made her laugh and smack my arms.

Not going to lie, it felt weird to be in a hotel without bags, but it certainly was nice to have my hands free.

As soon as the doors started to close, I closed in on her, pressing her back into the polished metal wall as my mouth took hers in a greedy exchange.

“I’d say this was even better,” she whispered, taking the kisses I lavished on her.

“Huh?” I mumbled, dropping my mouth to her jaw so she could speak, but I didn’t have to stop tasting her.

“This,” she panted, pressing her breasts to my chest. “Experienced men are nice. As long as I don’t have to look at the notches on your bedpost. It's another perk.”

“You’d be surprised,” was all I bothered saying.

She didn’t need to know that I’d only ever been with three other women in my life. All three had been Marines, too.

“I don’t need to know how many zeros, thanks.”

“No zeros.”

That made her pause while my mouth still explored.
