“How’re you feeling this morning?” he asked.

“Fine,” I said with a chuckle. “Even better now that I have coffee. Want one?”

He agreed, watching me with that hand tucked behind his head again.

Why did guys sit like that? It’s like he knew it made his biceps look amazing while bouncing his pec, begging for a kiss.

“Oh stop it,” I told him, turning away before I ended up back in bed, humping him.

His face dissolved into a smug grin as he dropped the arm as requested, but also slid out of bed buck ass naked.

I’d at least grabbed his t-shirt from off the floor on my way to the bathroom.

While his coffee was brewing, I turned my back to him and took my cup to the balcony to absorb the crisp morning air and the salty, fresh ocean breeze while I enjoyed the sunrise.

“Incredible, right?” Ashton asked as he sidled up behind me, one arm wrapping around my waist as he lifted the other to take a sip of his burning hot coffee.

“It is. Is there anything more beautiful than this?”

“One,” he murmured, squeezing me a little in a half hug. “I need to take you to South Africa. The most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen was when we were in Cape Town.”

“You must have seen some incredible things, going all over the world,” I mused.

“Some incredible things,” he agreed. “And some really terrible things.”

I pressed my hand over his and leaned back into his chest. For the first time in a long time, I felt truly safe, and that feeling was addictive.

“What should we do today?” I asked after a few minutes, my coffee already half gone.

“Beach?”

I laughed, but agreed.

“Seems like a waste to just stay in. We might as well enjoy the sand and water while we have it.”

He hummed in agreement.

“Then finish up your little latte and let’s go.”

I peeked into his mug of straight black coffee just to see that it was already gone.

Infuriatingly efficient man.

“There’s nothing wrong with putting creamer in coffee!”

He laughed and let go of me, backing up into the room again from the balcony.

“Never said there was,” he denied, but he so totally did.

It was implied in the way he scoffed the word ‘latte’.

I watched his ass wiggle away, kind of grateful that we had nothing with us, because he’d been going commando yesterday, so that rear was still bare.

“Sun and sand?” I called after him as he started to turn into the bathroom.

“Better get dressed up,” he said back, pausing in the doorway. “You keep walking around in my shirt and we’re going to end up spending our entire beach vacation in that bed over there.”

I laughed and followed him toward the bathroom where both of our swimwear waited soggy and cold on the bathroom and shower tiles.
